Well...Space Cadets....
Well...Space Cadets....
Never heard of either so can't compare !
I'd say X In Search of Space... probably because it came first and had the booklet, but Doremi was kinda overshadowed by Space Ritual Live, which contained most of it.
Brainstorm vs Masters of the Universe?
As with children, never good to pick favourites!
"Always ready with the ray of sunshine"
As strawberrybrick said it's Brainstorm vs Masters of the Universe.
Pretty much a tie. I actually prefer later live versions of that stuff (with Lloyd Langton adding some extra kick).
I prefer In Search Of Space but enjoy both.
"The wind is slowly tearing her apart"
Sad Rain
Anekdoten
In Search of Space is an acid rock masterwork, IMHO. Side 2 forms a near-perfect stream of variables to "psychic" music, with this one being one of my fave, subliminal songs of all time:
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
Between those two, I'd consider In Search Of Space more indispensable because it has We Took The Wrong Steps Years Ago and Children Of The Sun. Nearly all the songs on Doremi appeared in largely better form on Space Ritual.
I thought you meant "In Search of..." by stoner rockers Fu Manchu!
You say Mega Ultra Deluxe Special Limited Edition Extended Autographed 5-LP, 3-CD, 4-DVD, 2-BlueRay, 4-Cassette, five 8-Track, MP4 Download plus Demos, Outtakes, Booklet, T-Shirt and Guitar Pick Gold-Leafed Box Set Version like it's a bad thing...
In Search of the Lost Chord.
i like both. Doremi was my first Hawkwind album, but I do like a lot of what is on both albums.
"Alienated-so alien I go!"
Both are overshadowed by Space Ritual, but my nod goes to In Search of Space. There's no good or objective reason for it, though. They're both of equal quality.
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world.
Hard to pick one...
I was lucky to see Hawkwind Space Ritual for my first concert when I was 15. With Stacia, Lemmy, Nik and Robert Calvert, it was pretty awesome...
Doremi. But Hall and Warrior are even better, IMHO.
Looking forward to seeing Hawkwind here in Austin in October!
In Search Of Space edges out Doremi by being the more instantly repeatable listen. You can play side 1 then side 2 then side 1 then side 2 for several hours...
Doremi is the better because of The Watcher. Also that perfect moment in Space Is Deep when it builds and builds before plummeting down, releasing the tension. Never bettered in any of the live versions. And coz You Shouldn't Do That goes on just a little too long .....
