This is just plain fantastic, how deep they suffered of their past. What a bunch of neurotics

the link took me to an error page, so I took a different route http://www.deeppurple.com/index.cfm/...ent/pid/400251
What am I missing here? The link took me to a promo article for the 2005 album Rapture Of The Deep. Not a history by any means at all.

That's the point of this thread. If this article was placed on some fan site, it would have been ok. But see, it's band's official view on their past. They don't have courage to face the truth of their origin. Looks like they've stolen the brand! Pitiful, wormling people. They pretend to be all about the present, while at their shows they shamelessly exploit the old Lord/Blackmore stuff. Man that's hypocrisy.
Well it's the same for all veteran acts. If you don't play those classics from the past the casual fans get upset. "Why didn't they play Smoke on the Water, Hush and Highway Star" while the hardcore fans accuse them of living on past glory while giving the short end of the stick to new or less played material. While I own every Deep Purple album from Shades to Now What?! I've never seen them live so I would be happy to watch them play old stuff as well as newer material.
