Being the crazy tronoholic that I am, I'm just curious what mellotron moments and/or songs in prog that move you the most? What songs and/or sections in songs have really made you look up, listen and take note? For me it's a tie. Genesis is the winning band. The closing section of Seven Stones where Tony Banks' mournful tron and Steve Hackett's guitar accompaniment soar, to me is overwhelming beauty, so much so that I cry every time I hear it. And others might also choose the opening to Watcher of the Skies, with it's dark, mellotronic foreboding power, and the equally dark instrumental passage towards the end. Still makes the hairs on my arms stand up! Out of hundreds of mellotron moments in prog that I enjoy, those two always do it for me. How bout you?
