I seem to remember Pete Townsend saying before the last Who album that rock was better off being an underground movement. I think grunge was the last of rock dominating the charts and when that went under the music industry went with pre-packaged teen pop stars that they could better control.

Needless to say Alice is very old school. He's showing his age. I have no problem not referring to some stuff as rock. Even prog is not necessarily rock(at least not all the time). At least he mentioned Jethro Tull.
