Tpo 20, shees. Top 10 will do.

    Cardiacs
    Van der Graaf Generator
    King Crimson
    Gentle Giant
    Magma
    Henry Cow
    Stormy Six

The first two are also my top 2, the rest is in no particular order. Marillion is in there because it was the first band I got really into and turned me into progressive rock.

Present are a Belgian RIO/Avant band led by Roger Trigaux former in 1980 when he left Univers Zero. Dark angular, full of menace, they are kind of UZ's more electric brother. They have featured many Avant stalwarts over the years, Daniel Denis, Keith Macksoud, Dave Kerman, Guy Segers, Pierre Chevalier, Matthieu Safatly, Reginald Trigaux, Udi Koomran.

If you like you music dark, menacing, angular they are must listen.

hmmm. I have no idea, but I'll throw out 20 that I like. Tomorrow I might think of 20 different ones.

    Gentle Giant
    Genesis
    Advent
    Mr. Sirius
    Arti & Mesteiri
    Big Big Train
    Flower Kings
    Yes
    Captain Beyond
    M Coast
    Beach Boys
    Fleetwood Mac (pre-Buckingham/Nicks)
    PFM (pre-Lanzetti)
    Camel
    Thinking Plague
    Thieves Kitchen
    Glass Hammer
    Hatfield & The North
    Kenso
    Fleet Foxes

I figured 'rock' was a loose term here...

When it comes to lists like this, 20 seems barely enough. But by limiting it to rock bands, thus leaving out blues, jazz, and individual artists I think I can just make it...

    Led Zeppelin
    Rolling Stones
    Porcupine Tree
    Pink Floyd
    Decemberists
    Gov't Mule
    Rush
    Yes
    The Who
    R.E.M.
    Steely Dan
    Genesis
    The Kinks
    Jethro Tull
    Beatles
    Black Sabbath
    Faces
    Slade (guilty pleasure entry)
    White Stripes
    Iron Maiden
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

I came up with 16, in the order they occurred to me...

    The Beatles
    Pink Floyd
    Led Zeppelin
    King Crimson
    Yes
    Jethro Tull
    Grateful Dead
    Camper Van Beethoven
    The Residents
Booker T. & The MGs (Okay, I'm calling them rock, but more realistically they're R&B.)
    Santana
    Neil Young & Crazy Horse
    Hawkwind
    The Decemberists
    Djam Karet
    Camel

[edit] Rush should be in there too. I can't think of everything, apparently. [/edit]

What can I say? I listened to a lot of classic rock radio as a teen.

    Two other likely candidates...

Setna (Are these guys rock, or more properly jazz?)
    Wolf People
