Microstock companies like Dreamstime (where I'm going first) and Shutterstock are good places for beginners - - - while larger companies like Getty/Jupiter cater to the professionals.
It's worth a shot, and costs me nothing more than a little time up front to test the waters.

That list covers just about everybody I think.
I'll gather the files at home over the weekend and add all the title, location and meta-data they prefer - then send them up and see what happens.
^good luck on that. thx for the list.

WB issue.. which one is the better picture?
WB set to Auto - foliage a little on the yellow side..
Harbor7_024_1900.jpg
WB set to Direct Sunlight - foliage less yellow but entire photo now a lot bluer..

Bottom one looks like you used the tungsten wb setting.

That one.
If you really want to play around with white balance, and have questions about which settings produce the most accurate colour for subjects, you need to buy a colour card and shoot images of the the card in the lighting you plan to use in order to gauge how your camera is going to handle each lighting scenario under each setting.
Once you've got a good sense of how your camera handles each lighting scenario with each WB setting, you'll be able to bypass the card and use instinct.
Also, keep in mind that the camera is actually judging the scene in comparison to 18% grey--not by the colour--and then applying the correct algorithmic adjustment based on that average tonality. Those algorithms are arbitrary, and do not always accurately reflect the behaviours of the old daylight and tungsten films which, while also being pretty arbitrary, had rather consistently predictable results.
Until then, I'd suggest sticking with auto WB.
If you shoot RAW - the processor should have a WB select pointer that will adjust the image against something that's considered "white" - - - I do this all the time under funky lighting situations: tungsten, fluorescent, etc . . . and the RAW processor nails it. Another advantage of shooting RAW . . . . I worry very little on "in camera" settings (for the most part).
Agreed - it's much nicer. A few more images from me, taken over last weekend:

The round fisheye one is fun!
I like the middle one too.
None of these pics looks well focused or exposed, though I'm assuming your originals are actually pretty good and something is lost in the scanning process? (See, you DO need to get off film and onto digital! )
BTW - were these taken on slide or negative film?
Regards,
Duncan
Yes, that'll be the scanner, I'm afraid. The original prints are properly focused and exposed, though there is some use of graduated filters there, as well. Colour print film, throughout (Agfa 200 ASA); I can't be bothered with slides, though my father was a big fan. It's too much messing around for me, though.
continuing with the weathered theme..

not sure what 'visible alcohol' means. can you only drink if you hide your bottle/can in your jacket?

You could also isolate some of the extreme weathering to really highlight your theme:

Some places allowing drinking alcohol if the container is not visible, or if the beverage is not visually identifiable as alcohol. Wrapping the container in a paper bag is typical, but a bit obvious; also, pouring it into something else is common.
here's one a bit more isolated but it's not immediately obvious what it is (wall of platform that supports the restaurant which is anchored in the water)..

Now, that one's great. Even though the ladder is centred, and it doesn't follow the two-thirds rule, it works and works well. Great colours and tonality.
Doesn't matter at all that the viewer can't identify where or what it is. It's an abstract image, with the focus on the colours and textures.
Thanks Mark! Must try to get some more up. Time, always time!

The sky is partially overcast, the sun is a bit low (usually a good thing), and the clouds are casting shadows on the background landcsape causing that muddiness. A slightly longer exposure could have opened up the light a bit, but there's nothing you can about cloud cast other than wait for better conditions.
It's a trade-off: you want clouds in the sky to make the vast empty blueness more interesting; but, when there's too many, the sky retains its interest at the same time as muddying up the ground elements.
Other than that muddiness, they are all nice shots. The motion blur with the flag is a bit much,. though. Maybe a slightly faster shutter speed would have captured both enough clarity of detail and enough blur to lessen the dizzyness that I get when looking at the moving part of the flag--or, maybe its that it's just a bit too close to the foreground. The "more centered" image is a bit less dizzying.

really cool scenes from a local halloween display. i'm amazed they came out as well as they did since this was one of my first attempts at night photography.

From a Halloween event at my friend's recording studio here in town, it was a good night:
