Manfred Reinthaler, a police spokesman in Vienna, said that the licence was permitted simply because Alm's face was fully visible in the photo.

"The photo was not approved on religious grounds. The only criterion for photos in driving licence applications is that the whole face must be visible," he said.

Can you imagine the possibilities, just if there was no makeup?

    > He said that the sieve was a requirement of his religion.

Sorry, but that's complete BS. There is no such requirement, and if the tenets of the church DID require it I would not be a member. Of course, if he BELIEVES it's a requirement, then that's fine.

I'm also an adherent (and ordained minister) of the Universal Life Church, whose only tenet is that its members all "Do that which is right," which is of course completely open to interpretation.

I'm not against religion, but I do think it's good for people to see how completely and utterly random and bogus the details of ALL religions are.

If anyone needs an exorcism, let me know, because I'm fully qualified to perform them.
