    Hybrid SACD - DSD

Can someone explain just what 'Hybrid SACD - DSD' means? and why a CD of this type costs so much? Since it is so expensive, I take it you need high-end speaker system to play it on so it sounds like it's supposed to.

I believe the SACD - DSD indicates that it has an SACD layer encoded with the DSD process. This can only be taken advantage of with a SACD player.

Hybrid indicates that there us a standard 'redbook' layer that can be played on any CD player.

If I am correct, there is no reason to pay so much for this CD if you don't have a player that can read SACD. You would need more than just a high-end speaker system to take advantage of the increased quality. The entire audio chain (player, preamp, amps, speakers) would have to be pretty high-end.

I'm sure I will be corrected forthwith.
