    Phil Collins ruined this thread!

    Great stuff, realy enjoyed it.

Alan is mistaken about the chronology of his Beatles interactions. His sessions for "All Things Must Pass" were in 1970, so *before* "Imagine", which was recorded in 1971. So he'd already worked with George before they crossed paths during the "Imagine" sessions.

The Phil Collins anecdote Sean is referring to is in Phil's autobiography. Phil had been telling George Harrison that he'd sat in on a session for "All Things Must Pass", but George had no distinct recollection of it, or what track(s) he might have played on. So he played a trick on him, got Ray Cooper to record some intentionally bad, out-of-time tambourine on some song, and send Phil the cassette, pretending they'd found his tambourine track at last. Phil, of course, was very embarrassed. Then of course George revealed to him it was all a prank. In the event, I don't think it was ever ascertained what Phil supposedly played.

    Aymeric,
it's documented that Phil played congas on Art of Dying. George mentions it in the liner notes of the 2001 reissue of the album. I think Phil also specifies it in his book. However his part did not make the final mix and has never been heard.

I don't suppose that by "pair", you meant Robert & Toyah?

Frippy's manic laugh has got me worried about his recent mental health.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

I haven't noticed Fripp in these last several Sunday Lunch videos. I wonder what he's up to?

That's the first of those I've actually watched. To see what the, er... fuss was all about. To be honest, anybody who's followed Toyah's career shouldn't be shocked by her exhibitionist tendencies.

    But Fripp covering GnR?!!

Tony Levin has update his webpage (Jan 27) Here is a little "bit" about KC in 2021:

We have King Crimson tour legs planned for July, late August, and November. Stick Men is confirmed for Europe in October. Levin Brothers will try to fill in the gaps with local gigs. Whether those shows can happen is an open question, but we hope so.

With all the time at home this last 8 months, I finished “Images from a Life on the Road”, a comprehensive collection of my road photos through the years, and advance sales have been way beyond my expectations.

Planing a small series of videos showing off my basses…

Good luck. I hope it works out, but July seems REALLY soon to me for some reason.

Yeah. I suppose if its just a southern tour they might be able to do it, but I don't see the coasts opening up for july and august, espeically. Even in most places I imainge there would still be capacity limits that would (I would think) deter.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

I can imagine that at this point what makes a successful tour may be adjusted for bands with only so many years left (and with members who maybe aren't hurting financially). Perhaps settling for smaller profits (or just breaking even) will be the thing for those heading out first. Just get out there. That said, I can imagine insurance being a huge issue for the tours and the venues both, so I can see that taking it out of the artists/managements hands.

One advantage could be all the members have been vaccinated. Not mentioned on Tony’s website but in an e-mail is he received his second dose last Friday.

Yeah, he had made claims to that effect before. Interesting thing is, Goodsall claims he played on a coupel songs that are credited as being co-written by Steve Stevens. Uh, so if Steve co-wrote the songs, why would they bring him another guitarist in on the session. I always remember Steve giving very detailed info on what he played on Rebel Yell and Eyes Without A Face (among other songs) in Guitar Player back in 1984.

Also, I don't buy this "I smashed my knuckles up the up the neck of the guitar and it sounds like a machine gun" explanation. How the frell do you get that sound by "smashing your knuckles" against the neck of the guitar?!

For what it's worth, Steve Stevens claimed back in 1984 he got that sound from a Lexicon PCM-41 digital delay, which he claimed was the only delay unit that could get that sound, because it involved the envelope setting on the modulation section. But then something like 25 years later, he did another inteview in Guitar Player, and said that he actually held a toy raygun up to the guitar pickups (which is what he did when I saw him perform with Billy circa 2004 or so). He said he actually had Hamer build him a guitar with the electronics from the raygun built into it, but he said it didn't sound the same, apparently there was something about the sound coming out of the tiny speaker on the toy and going into the guitar pickups that made a huge difference.

So apart from changing his story (you mean like all those tall tales Eddie VH used to tell about his supposedly souped up Marshalls?), I'm inclined to believe it's Stevens. For one, he's credited with co-writing the two songs Goodsall claims to have played on (as well as most of the rest of the songs on Rebel Yell). Secondly, Steve had actually played on Billy Idol's first album, so he was already a part of Billy's back up band. Thirdly, you'd think at some point someone would have come forward, either Idol or Keith Forsey or someone else and said "Yeah, we used a session people on that record, instead of Billy's regular band". I mean, if we know who really played on You Really Got Me, Good Vibrations, Cherish, I Was Made For Lovin' You, the Aerosmith version of Train Kept A'Rollin', etc, don't you think we'd know who really played on Rebel Yell and Eyes Without A Face, if in fact, it's not the people who were credited on the original record?!
