I hope whoever designed the Live Nation web site gets a case of the piles.

Bought for Boston with presale code LINEUP, still need to work out if the band are going to be able to get here.

I managed to get tix but Live Nation's web site kept telling me my "device" couldn't be used when I was trying to buy via Chrome (even with livenation whitelisted). I switched to the hideous Edge browser running on the same "device" and got tickets, losing about 8 rows in the process. I guess it's the penalty for not being one of those people who pokes away at a phone every waking hour.

Actually, I am opting to skip the Brand X/Randy McStine show due to the current COVID-19 issues. I am also going to skip Ben Watt (who, although he has worked with both Robert Wyatt and David Gilmour is NOT prog - but I still count myself as a fan) down in Hudson.
In fact, I am currently not even sure about Big Big Train in May - but a lot can change between now and then.

Additionally, for the first time ever, we sprung for the extra $5 per ticket for the insurance for KC.

On Saturday, I found out listening to an ad on CHOM-FM that they were already on sale and quickly bought mine!

I was quite surprised to see so many excellent seats still available since the last time KC played in Montreal at the St. Denis Theater it sold out quickly.
Looks like the covid-19 crisis has impacted ticket sales. I was thinking about going to Ottawa Blues festival but a Theater setting is far better than an outdoor shortened set. And the acoustics a Place des Arts are incredible.

    Enter the Crims!

Pink Floyd - Olympic Stadium, July 77 - Yankee Stadium, NY Jun 94
Jethro Tull - Montreal Forum, Jun 73 - LA Forum, Nov 78
Rush - Montreal Forum, July 84 - Toyota Ctr, Houston, TX May 2015
Genesis - Montreal Forum, December 74 - Pepsi Arena, Denver Oct 2007
King Crimson - Spectrum Montreal, July 84 - Videotron Ctr Quebec July 2017

Can you imagine how Fripp was feeling when KC played Hyde Park opening for the Rolling Stones in 1969?
But of course, even if he already had a camera phobia then, consider this:

1- This was their debut and a huge chance to reach a massive audience so everything else did not matter.
2- There were no cellular phones at the time so if very few fans carried a camera it would be mostly a crappy Instamatic :-(
3- He must be doing better with festival crowds, Fripp has no authority at venues where other bands play subject to festival rules like no weapons, alcohol or sunscreen.

I'm very surprised KC will not play any West coast dates, sadly is a sign of winding down on the touring.

If you read the updated KC book from Sid Smith, it does mention fripp working with a sports psychologist prior to reactivating the current band, so imagine that impacts things somewhat. He’s also been clear about as the years of this current band going on that he wants the band to be heard by innocent, new ears.

That won’t happen as much on the theatre tours they’ve done, so imagine to fulfill that aim they decided on festivals, outdoor shows (outside bands comfort zone) and bills with other bands where the average punter isn’t necessarily there to see them. Imagine that was the goal with the originally planned tour with tool for 2020 that got switched to Zappa band - a pointed stick of sorts.

My thought is this - if it’s some thumb this band is doing, it must be in line with Fripps wants and wishes so more power to them.

I might have the details slightly wrong, but another ingredient besides the search for "innocent ears" is that the band only had a short window (six weeks or so) to tour. They were planning on touring with Tool, but that fell through when Tool backed out.

    2003 show from Mexico City:

I was more than a little surprised to find out I don’t have a version of “Frame by Frame” from the double duo (I don’t guess they played it much). Rectified.

Shame it couldn't have been in the box instead of new Haven...

I doubt this will happen. The pandemic isn't going to be over by then.

Yeah, I've held off on buying tickets for that very reason. At this point, it is what is it (as much as I hate that useless phrase, it seems apropos).

Rest in peace Bill Rieflin. I never really knew anything about Bill until he joined King Crimson and I saw him perform. I was so impressed by him that I began to explore his past in music and was quite impressed. I discovered a real musical treasure with his collaboration on the album The Repercussions of Angelic Behavior with Robert Fripp and Trey Gunn. Simply amazing stuff. Any fans of Bill and King Crimson must check that album out if they haven't already. And now Bill really is practicing Angelic Behavior.

His solo album, Birth of a Giant, is worth seeking out, too.
