So many great vocals it's hard to pick one but I will go with White Mountain!
If I had to pick one it might be the acapella beginning of "dancing with the moonlit knight."
Back in NYC. I love the scream / sing proto punk thing he had on that one. Very tough to pull off.

They've both been mentioned, but the first one I thought of was 'Get 'Em Out By Friday' and the one I'm sticking with is 'Harold The Barrel': the 'serious' singing in both songs is as good as anything in his catalogue, but he has to do so much more in those songs.
I'd have Dancing with the Moonlight Knight just beating The Carpet Crawlers
Some really good stories about Peter in the studio with Genesis... he was one of those guys that had trouble hitting the higher notes... so he subscribed to any trick that would help him... standing on his head for a few minutes, drinking some type of mixtures, etc. You can hear this on the live tracks, that is, struggling with the higher louder notes....
But saying all this, what got laid down in the studio is always KILLER... can't think of a song where I don't like Pete's vocals. Probably the most powerful vocal performance is BACK IN NYC.

Always get goose bumbs listening to pg at the end of The Musical Box. Love his different characters on The Battle of Epping Forest and probably everything on The Lamb.
"Henry Cow always wanted to push itself, so sometimes we would write music that we couldn't actually play – I found that very encouraging." - Lindsay Cooper, 1998
"I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip." - Roger Waters, 2014
"I'm a collector. And I've always just seemed to collect personalities." - David Bowie, 1973
Phil sang lead on For Absent Friends, because he co-wrote the song with Steve. So(being the new guy at the time), he was afraid to present the song to Peter. More Fool Me was co-written by Mike and Phil on the steps of Island Studios. So, only Mike and Phil are featured on the track.
Out of all the Gabriel era genesis my favorite vocal song is stagnation...
Yeah, I kind of forgot about GEOBF, but that's my other favorite on Foxtrot after Can Utility (Supper is great, too of course. Foxtrot in general is what I think of as my favorite Gabriel "performance," really). Lamb is amazing too, but in some ways it doesn't get better than Foxtrot.
