My review of guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg's ONE, today at All About Jazz.

In a time when solo albums often employ technology to expand the soundscape with looping and other processing, Kreisberg has gone old school: one man, one guitar (well, a couple guitars), no overdubs/multi-tracks/loops. The result of this combination of covers and originals is an album that demonstrates what's been becoming increasingly clear over the past decade, as he's emerged with artists ranging from Joe Locke to Dr. Lonnie Smith: Kreisberg is a virtuoso player with an astute ear for material selection and interpretive approach. His own records have been impressive to date, but on the stripped down, bare context of ONE, his talent has never been this immediately clear.
