Ciao from Italy. I'm really glad to see so much interest for italian underground music from people living on the other side of the world, let's say in the New World.
I've seen many surprising suggestions on this thread, in some way my country can still offer good new productions. Today I would like to suggest a project that has never been mentioned on this thread and I think in the whole forum. There are two albums that have been released with a temporal interval of eight years but are deeply bounded in terms of musical concept and vision. Both artists are from Sardegna, a isle in Italy that has a strong cultural identity and an ancient tradition of folk music.
The first one is DIE by Iosonouncane, released in 2015. When it came out has a strong positive reception and it rapidly became a cult album, a sort of peak in the indipendent production. The line up of this record his rich, with horns, acoustic instruments and electronic very well amalgamated. I appreciate the production because it creats a very strong and evocative wall of sound, the bass range is huge. The lyrics are in italian.
It is a concept album so I suggest a whole album listening.

The second one is SPIRA by Daniela Pes, released in 2023. It is the debut album of Daniela Pes. This album is produced by Iosonouncane and incorporates elements of electronic music and folk music but with the addition of the beautiful voice of Daniela Pes. Her voice has something magical and it fits perfectly with these obscure electronic chants. The language here is interesting too because it is an artificial language that mix an ancient dialect with italian vocabulary that surpisingly sounds very good.
The full album is worth listening.

On first listen I didn't understand absolutely nothing from The Winstons Third. It's either a masterpiece or complete garbage. Lots of Beatles vibes for sure.

Just listened to the new one from Mauro Montobbio which led me to the band Narrow Pass. Pretty incredible and melodic guitar playing in the vein of Steve Hackett. Just great.

I heard a very good track on a prog radio station recently by a newer Italian band called Labyrinthine Baroque Legacy. I don't remember the name of the track though and they aren't listed on progarchives. I will be investigating further when I am able to. Also, I'm pretty sure they are at least on bandcamp (who isn't these days?).
