Please feel free to post your 2020 lists. As there are some late arrivals and some still underway I will wait a few weeks to post mine.
My Favorite 22 Italian Prog Albums from a very good year...2016!
1) La Bocca Della Verita- "Avenoth" (Earth running out of resources, so we invade planet Avenoth. LBDV rockets from the 70s to the 21st Century. Vintage modern.
2) Afasia- " Nelle Vesti Del Mio Ego" (Italian Dream Theater- Concept album in four dimensions. Greek mythology, Prison madhouse, tragic love, and physics intertwined in a resplendent metal metaphor)
3. Ingranaggi Della Valle- "Warm Spaced Blue" (Dark, exotic Cthulhu concept. Drummer reminds me of Bruford)
4) Pomenade- " Noi al dir di Noi" (Red wine rich vocals, refined instrumentation)
5) Witchwood- Handful of Stars (Hammond drenched Deep Purpleish, Heep and witchy flute)
6) Metamofosi- Purgatorio (Gothic crooning concept. More heavenly than purgatorial)
7) Il Paradiso Degli Orchi-" il Corponauta ( Exotic mellotron, unpredictable, meditative flute)
8) The Winstons- "The Winstons" (Vocally stunning Canterbury)
9) Universal Totem Orchestra- " Mathematical Mother" (I looked into the refrigerator and heard a god say, "Zeuhl")
10)Consorzio Acqua Potabile- "Cap & Alvaro Fella: Coraggio e Mistero" (Addictive raucous celebration of life with Jumbo's vocalist)
11) Stafano Testa- " Andrea il Traditore" (Deep and personal. Accordion, flute, cello, classical and electrical guitars.)
12) Ad Maiora- "Repetita Luvant" (varied, catchy, daring and dynamic)
13) Syndone- "Ero & Thanatos" (Large color pallet, gorgeous vocals, soft and heavy)
14) Nathan- "Nebulosa" (Bits of Yes, Floyd, and Crimson drizzled in Le Orme sauce)
15) Mad Fellaz- "Mad Fellaz ll" (Unpredictable, myriads of instrumental passages with occasional woodwind vocals, top tier eclectic prog)
16) Hostsonaten- " Symphony No.1 - Cupid & Psyche" (oboes, French horns, bassoons. Grandiose, extravagant symphonic)
17) il Rumore Bianco- "Anthropocene" (dark, theatrical challenging. Rewarded with multiple listens)
18) Deus Ex Machina- "Devoto" (Jazz fusion influenced by Zeppelin)
19) il Castello Di Atlante- "Arx Atlantis" (Complex at times bombastic. Superb drumming)
20) Submarine Silence- " Journey Through Mine" ( Influenced by "Wind and Wuthering" era Genesis)
21) Sfaratthons- La Bestia Umana (Slightly melancholic, Italian backstreets, lonely flutes and emotive vocals)
22) Vuoti A Rendere- "Ruggine" (Personal, direct, stripped down, jazzy electric organ and piano, sax, guitars)
