New Banco is always welcome, but I was hoping it might be an instrumental studio effort

    Still auto-buy

Semiramis seem to have reformed and will at least play a concert in Rome in September.

    (Hope that will be recorded...)

don't know if mentioned, but h2o was excellent recent italian band, at least as of a few years back.

They were indeed a superb band, but appear to be no more. Their last album was released 13 years ago, which hardly qualifies as “recent” anymore.

I have no info who is in the line up, but I rather doubt that Michele will be in it.

Why? He was present and accounted for for the last reunion concert (and, frankly, it isn’t Semiramis without him). A pity they aren’t producing new music (and I doubt Michele would have any interest in making a new Semiramis album).

That's news to me. I had no idea Semiramis had reformed or performed. Does anyone know when this happened, who was involved, or what was performed?

    Banco for sure here.

Which of the 70s reunion efforts are must-haves? 10-15 years ago it was usually a good guideline to avoid everything, but some of the more recent stuff seems to be more well received. I got the new RRR a few years back and honestly haven't played it much. But the Metamorfosi from 10 years ago or so was pretty great, so I'm open to the general idea.

I would say all of those comeback albums by those classic RPI bands are a hundred times better than the new Yes Album.

The ones I could recommend without the fan boy Bonus added:

PFM- Stati Di Immaginazione (incredible instrmental album) PFM in Classic (brilliant versions of Classic Music (live))
    Alphataurus- ATTOSECONDO (very strong comeback)
Delirium- Il Nome Del Vento (on par with their classic stuff)
Museo Rosenbach- Babarica (ok it doesn't reach the original but still great)
Latte e miele- Passio Secundum Mattheum: The Complete Work (I think it's better than the original)

While none of the comeback albums by those classic RPI bands are as enjoyable as the new Yes Album, there are a few more not to be missed

Locanda delle Fate - Missing Fireflies - this one is an EP, and is only 20 minutes or so of new music, but for me it's very possibly my favorite 20 minutes post 1977 - the "Live in Bloom" DVD is also fantastic
Both RDM and Maxophone have "Live in Tokyo" releases that are excellent
The Bernardo Lanzetti DVD "Vox 40" is off the charts - great Aqua Fragile and PFM tunes

This might be more of my bias, but I look at these releases along the lines of live albums (and I realize a lot of this output is live concerts); the stuff on it can be pretty good, but I will always reach for the originals first. I've moved away from having to hear every new release, so these have less appeal for me. I'd rather spend what is now my rather limited listening time revisiting.

Great - I see the band kept their sound. Will be picking this one up right away.

Living Stilts is a new band that has now released their debut album. It's quite nice.

Luca Scherani (Höstsonaten,Finistere etc.) has reformed Trama his band from the late 90s.
(the band also features La Coscienza di Zeno, Not a good Sign bass player9

Höstsonaten's The Rime of.. Chapter II is in the work.

Luca will also be on the Periplo album out next week (with Paolo Pixi TdC)

An overlooked band from last year (realy great)
