You know you've got an old car when...

...people who don't know much about slightly older cars, say, "Is your exhaust supposed to sound like that?" And you answer "Yes, that's what a perfectly working exhaust and engine sound like on a car that doesn't have fuel injection, an electronic motor management system or a catalytic converter"

..."wow, the steering on your car is really heavy compared to mine", And you say "Yes, that's because your car has power steering, this doesn't"

....when I say, "lock the door when you get out" and they say "how?" and I say "push.down.that.black.button.then.slam.the.doo r"

I'm sure y'all have plenty more!

You know you have an old car when the carpeting has become structural.

When your local mechanic, who is not affiliated with any dealership or union can actually work on it.

(forgot about the days when the brights were on the floor... good call!)

I should point out, as I feel I didn't make it clear, that the 3 in my opening post plus this one all refer to my current car.

Reminds me of the big old Daimler limousine. It had a key on the dash to turn the electrics on for lights etc and a separate key on the steering column to turn the ignition on. http://cars-database.com/data_images...mousine-04.jpg
