Both great songs. The Bee Gees were (Barry still writes I assume) fantastic songwriters and it makes sense the tunes from Saturday Night Fever are so versatile.

One of my neighbours is flying to France today to attend HellFest. My knowledge of metal is pretty limited so I probably only recognize about 10% of the names, but this is an insanely packed festival over two weekends:

This was on America's Got Talent the other night. Metal content kicks in about 1:30

Not sure yet what hypothetically distinguises this batch of new Meshuggah.

That was actually pretty amazing. I wonder if she can do clean vocals too?

"Royal" visit to the Papyrus Carlsberg Collection
In connection with the Mercyful Fate Concert at Copenhell, Kim Ryholt, Professor of Egyptology at ToRS, and Troels Pank Arbøll, Carlsberg JRF in Assyriologist at Oxford University and Visiting Researcher at ToRS, had the unusual idea of inviting lead singer King Diamond to visit the Papyrus Carlsberg Collection .
As one of heavy metal's biggest stars, King Diamond has over the years, among other things. drawn on mysterious elements of cultures from these areas in their songs. Precisely for this reason, the two scholars thought he might be interested in experiencing a selection of the unique ancient writings that the collection houses, and which are written on papyrus and clay from ancient Egypt and Iraq.
King Diamond said yes, and he visited the gathering with his family on June 19, hours after playing a bang of a concert the night before. Here he spent a few hours in the company of the two scholars who told him about everything from mummy bandages and curses to disease demons and the rise of scripture in the ancient Middle East.
King Diamond was welcoming with eventful stories from his more than 40-year career in the music industry.

    Kirk Hammett : Portals

This EP is in danger of being my favorite metal release of 2022.

I never thought I'd say that about anything Metallica-related!
    Regards,

    Duncan

Well to be fair, it's virtually nothing like Metallica! And I agree, it's great!

This is a killer album! Been playing it a lot lately too. Actually the album prior, The Wake, is pretty awesome too. What a unique band...

Yup. Both of these last two albums are killer. I think I might dig The Wake slightly more. Target Earth rocks as well.

I need to remember to pick this up! Absolutely loved The Wake, and in general have endless goodwill and fondness toward Voivod. Today's payday so I might hit up the local shop and see if they have a copy in stock. Thanks for the reminder.
