We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973
In 1976 this would have been called Heavy Metal:
This was on America's Got Talent the other night. Metal content kicks in about 1:30
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
I love Meshuggah but haven't quite been able to stir myself to listen or purchase their new one. Maybe just because the ostensible variations in their catalog tend to be hard to hear; I wouldn't know which one was the slow sludgy one, or the extra-fast one, or the more organic one, if Wikipedia didn't tell me. Not sure yet what hypothetically distinguises this batch of new Meshuggah.

"Royal" visit to the Papyrus Carlsberg Collection
In connection with the Mercyful Fate Concert at Copenhell, Kim Ryholt, Professor of Egyptology at ToRS, and Troels Pank Arbøll, Carlsberg JRF in Assyriologist at Oxford University and Visiting Researcher at ToRS, had the unusual idea of inviting lead singer King Diamond to visit the Papyrus Carlsberg Collection .
As one of heavy metal's biggest stars, King Diamond has over the years, among other things. drawn on mysterious elements of cultures from these areas in their songs. Precisely for this reason, the two scholars thought he might be interested in experiencing a selection of the unique ancient writings that the collection houses, and which are written on papyrus and clay from ancient Egypt and Iraq.
King Diamond said yes, and he visited the gathering with his family on June 19, hours after playing a bang of a concert the night before. Here he spent a few hours in the company of the two scholars who told him about everything from mummy bandages and curses to disease demons and the rise of scripture in the ancient Middle East.
King Diamond was welcoming with eventful stories from his more than 40-year career in the music industry.

Kirk Hammett : Portals
This EP is in danger of being my favorite metal release of 2022.
I never thought I'd say that about anything Metallica-related!
