Had my first show since the pandemic Friday night and saw the two openers, Undeath and Rivers of Nihil (who I was there to see) They didn't bring their sax player on tour, but the backing tape was not bad. The band lands in the progressive death metal bucket and can both "ballad" and "blast" in the same song, in fact that's somewhat their format.

Duncan's going to make a Horns Emoticon!!!

If that's what you are after then maybe check out the german band Toxic Smile.
When you list all the qualities that you despise and you realize you're describing yourself.

Provided by a trio from Germany, this is an extraordinary release. "Take The Step" is an entirely instrumental 6-track EP in the heavy fusion vein. Crafty and inventive, Alternative Ways turns out to be another lovely surprise this year. Recommended for the fans of experimental metal.

It's good, mildly experimental, and quite pleasing - and I think it will appeal to many on PE.

But I would not call it metal at all.

    Duncan

They latest album was just released today. Although I've only listened to it once, I'm guessing this will easily be in my top albums of the year.

I wish the sound quality on these videos was better - I'm trying to like it

What little I can hear clearly seems very good, but I'll scratch around for more (and better) audio clips...
    Regards,

    Duncan

    Scardust : Strangers

    Loving it

    beauty-and-the-beast format - but different.

(I.e. not for those who're frightened of the occasional cookie monster )

E and I have decided you can no longer use the term Cookie Monster! In fact, if there is one more instance, you will be required to provide a detailed description each time, for example, instead of just typing "Growls or Screams" you'll have to add more detail, i.e. Guttural Death Growls ala Akerfeldt.

Nah, I love the blue guy. I just find Dunc's occasional disclaimer hilarious.
