    Focus

Saw the launch gig of Focus X at Buxton on Thursday. Very impressed great show.

New CD special edition was bought prior to the show via Amazon for £8.99.
The same CD was on sale at the gig for £20 plus.

Should I have bought it at the show, thus supporting the band, or was the mark up excessive profiteering / exploitation by the band of its loyal fan base

I hope they do a domestic release in the US soon. This is an album I've been waiting for. I hope somehow they tour over here as well, as in the
San Francisco Bay Area. Saw them in 73 at Philharmonic Hall in NYC.

For an extra dollar, support your local prog store (Laser Edge / Wayside / Greg Walker) that otherwise will go out of business and won't allow you to buy stuff that Amazon does not have it or have it for a lot more.

I was starting to give up hope after the only-decent 8 and the better but flawed 9 - New Skin. I wasn't excited when I heard awhile back that a new one was coming. Even the cover art looks like a poor man's Roger Dean. (Yes, I know he actually DID the art, but it's not exactly one of his better works.)

But the online samples sound very promising. Sounds possible that this might yet be the best one since the reformation. Now I'm looking forward to getting this!

Ordered from Amazon but still on the waiting list...might just order from Ken and cancel the Amazon order. I do have the album on iTunes (and it's a fantastic album); but I'm a physical CD kind of guy. Plus all my music on my Mac is Apple Lossless wherever possible.

It's not the dollar. It's pricey either way for a single CD. I'd rather wait for a domestic release. I'll support whomever I like my friend, and don't have loads of money to spend doing it.

any news on the Focus front?
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Haven't seen this before (well, 131.407 other persons have).
Prototype? - on the album the second half of the song skips a beat.
Guess its Cyril Havermans on bass and Pierre van der Linden.

There was a dinner theater with a Medieval theme in Boston that used to include a version of House of the King played as the show intro sung by the entire cast, and included words that they wrote to befit the theme centered around a king hosting a group in his court.

I'm pretty sure I have that video on one of the Focus DVDs that I have. I think it's Masters From The Vaults.

I've seen that Focus had been on one of the Cruise to Edge before the pandemic but not this year.

Aside from the Cruise, I wonder if they have they toured North America in the past 5 years? The recent live CD/BR was from a Brazilian show.

It's quite a few years since I last saw them but Thijs seemed on a sticky wicket......majorly obese, still smoking....kinda figured I might not see him again.
