Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
Luz de Riada were a nice afternoon band with no Keyboards. Sounded like late era Crimson with added Sax. Nice but nothing new or groundbreaking.
Galahad were Neo. I'm told that 2 artists I love are Neo; Edhels and Iris, but of course, they are instrumental bands and Galahad are not. WAY too many vocals for me and pretty simplistic musically and lyrically. Not my cuppa.
Gentle Giant kicked butt! I was not expecting the caliber of show we got from one original member and another kinda original member but they were excellent. I'm not a huge GG fan, but having all their core albums I am familiar with everything they played and they played it well. Whole show on video; will post a clip hopefully.
New Trolls were excellent as ever, but I had seen this show before. Accompanied by the Baja Orchestra and playing a good chunk of Concerto Grosso 3, they did not disappoint. Ran out of digital tape before the end of the show

LUZ DE RIADA - The sax player was once a member of the great Cabezas de Cera, so I was expecting to really like their performance. Not that it was bad, there were moments. But overall, it was a little predictable.
GALAHAD - I'm not a big Neo fan, so I was expecting to really dislike these guys, but I actually enjoyed their set more than I expected. I kind of liked their combo of Neo and 80's New Wave influences. Mostly completely forgettable, but not bad for a nice warm Mexican afternoon.
Three Friends - "Kicked butt" is right! These guys nailed it. They were tight, top quality musicianship, great energy on stage, and they all looked like they were having fun! I am a GG fan, and I was completely satisfied with their performance.
New Trolls - I am not a huge fan of their style (classical music played in a rock style), but there is no arguing with their abilities to pull it off. Their performance, while not quite as good as their previous Baja appearance, was very fun. De Scalzi is one talented musician.
And if there were a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Russell
