As subjective as a title as that may be, I ran across a site that covers that area, and thought others at PE might want to explore it as well: http://albumcoverhalloffame.wordpres...ll-time-lists/

My vote goes to Close to the Edge.
Sorry, but that is one friggin' confusing web site. I guess it's a blog really (or created with a "blogging site"), and there's something about the default blog format that just confuses me. I never liked it, and never understood why people wouldn't just want to do what I think of as a regular "web site" format instead. Where are the friggin pictures?
Eddie Jobson's & ZINC The Green Album, was the best cover of all time.
Wilton Said... , Toronto Art Rock.

A true classic! On a side note what a great tour they are doing with Close to the Edge! What a great show in Monterey that I saw Jon or not, I'll take that music nearly anyway I can get it.
Back to the topic, I love the Trick and Wind covers by Genesis. Voyage by Hackett. RTF Romantic Warrior. Love Relayer. Crime of the Century... Eat a Peach, Thick as a Brick.. Abbey Road, Sgt Peppers... Camel Mirage, Moonmadness, Sinatra In the WeeSmall Hours, Stones Exile, Floyd Dark Side... Ok I gotta go now those came to me in 45 second... I could be here all night!
Actually certain supposedly classic album covers irritate the hell out of me. Dark Side of the Moon for example, for me is the worst Pink Floyd cover and one of the worst covers of all time. To me, the DSotM cover as well as the Soft Machine Third cover look like simple & boring school Technical Drawing projects by 5th year pupils.
Three of my favs now then:
Hot Rats
Wind & Wuthering
Abraxas
Nursery Cryme
A Trick Of A Tail
Selling England By The Pound
Relayer
Tales From Topographic Oceans
Bitches Brew
ITCOTCK
CTTE
Abraxas
5000 Layers of the Onion
And my fave for its graphic simplicity- MDK
I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.
Family-Fearless(lp edition)
"please do not understand me too quickly"-andre gide
How is Roger Dean not even mentioned in that blog/article?

Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
I knew it was Mark Wilkinson. I guess I was too lazy to type it out late last night.

A 5th grader and a 5th Year pupil are not at all the same thing. A Fifth grader is approx. 10 (9-11 range) A Fifth Year pupil is approx. 16 (15-17 range). However the system in England changed in 1990 & England adopted the system used around most of Europe and the US, so the old Fifth Year is now called Year Eleven (11th grader)
