The Pineapple Thief - The Last To Run

I heard the release of "All Because of Me" when it came out and really liked it, so I've been waiting for today - the release of the full ep. I have to say, I'm not disappointed! I really like every song. I've been listening on repeat for all morning - picking up new stuff with every listen.

I consider myself a fairly recent fan. (Though I've known about them for a long time thanks to PE.) I guess I became ready to really listen to them when Gavin Harrison joined. I've really loved going through their catalog. I'm trying to be patient with it and go slow to really listen to everything. Funny thing is, I find myself liking whatever release I'm currently listening to so much that I really don't want to move off of it.

I can't wait to see them in Boston on 11/24.

From the posts I've read here, I know there's division on the band. I highly recommend this one to fans, and I hope they play it all on the tour. The materiel I've been concentrating on most recently is: Your Wilderness, Where We Stood, and It Leads to This. I think this release fits really nicely with them.

I don't have the new one yet, but I think their whole catalogue is solid stuff. Some albums I like better than others, but they have never made a bad one IMO.

I'll definitely be getting this. I like the recent stuff with Gavin.

^Same. I’ll pick it up at the Charlotte show in a few weeks.

Bruce said with his last show that Gavin made the group sound, better.

What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

Sounds like they are wowing the US of A right now. Some cracking reviews coming in

^ Those cracking reviews are warranted! I've been sort of lukewarm on Pineapple Thief despite buying and enjoying their most recent run of records (the Harrison-ized version of the band, if you will). That show last night definitely pushed my fandom to the next level. Harrison's imprint is all over this band. Obviously, his drumming shines, but the arrangement of the other instruments seems to be of his making, too. It's all very percussive, with guitars and keys chugging away on loop-like patterns, freeing Harrison up to do a whole lot of fun things. Marrying Harrison's instrumental sensibilities to Soord's songwriting makes for a perfect fit.

Soord is the consummate front man. Very engaging and willing to take the spotlight (and also remove himself from it). He was clearly enjoying himself as was the entire band.

And the sound! I'm not sure if it was the venue or the band themselves, but it was crystal clear.

    Not a show to miss.

I got the EP recently and it made an immediate positive impression on me. I've only listened to it a few times so far but there's some great stuff on there - especially All Because of Me. I think I might need to revisit It Leads To This and maybe listen to it in a playlist with the Last To Run EP.

I did see them in Boston (11/24), and they were absolutely fantastic! Did the meet & greet - it was so worth it. What a bunch of nice guys.

Great set list and great playing. Obviously, Gavin is a next level drummer, but everyone in the band was impressive.

I'd love to see them again. I'd highly recommend seeing them if you can.

Really enjoyed the show in Toronto on Friday - I have some of their earlier albums which I like but don't love, but the newer material they did at the show is a real step forward for me.

And any time I get to see Gavin Harrison play is a win.
