Excellent news! He’s on Chris Herin’s new album, Hiding in Plain Sight. Definitely worth a listen.
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

Great, but still want Bouda back. He's so much more interesting then Herin.

Other good news is that they have been announced as one of the bands for ProgStock next year.

Have you heard Herin's new solo album? I think it is really good.

    Absolutely agree on this!

He's lined up quite an impressive roster of guests for it, too. The Terry Brown production is icing on the cake.

I tried revising an old Tiles thread on this site a few months back. I sort of stumbled across the band when Herin's solo album was announced. It would seem that, for whatever reason, they're just not that popular with the Prog Ears crowd.

Tiles was a great band IMO, but yea they don't seem to get much love here. Even though they were from Michigan they never played on the west side of the state, so I only saw them live once at ProgDay. Tiles drummer Pat DeLeon is now in the band Imminent Sonic Destruction who are another really good prog metal band from Detroit.

Herin has never worked for me in Discipline. Compared to Bouda his playing to me is listless and uninspired, especially in a live setting. Bouda is an underrated guitarist to begin with (personally l think he is fantastic), and Herin has never filled his shoes as far as l am concerned. There is a entire palette of sound and musicality missing when Bouda is not there.
I go, and come back, like memories and symptoms.
I go, and come back, forever, evermore.
Part of me remains abandoned in a circle.
    Part of me moves on.

Funny how these things seem to happen: just a couple of days ago I had the sudden urge to listen to Unfolded. Ended up spinning it four times, and Accord once. I started wondering whether we would ever hear from Discipline again. And this thread pops up just a day or two later.

Regarding guitarists, JPB has a doomy, swampy sound that fits really nicely with the mellotron. I do miss that on Captives. But I saw them at Progtoberfest with Herin a few years back and I thought they were as great as ever.

I can't really compare, since I don't remember much about seeing them at NEARfest many years ago, with (presumably) the other guitarist that is being discussed. I did see them twice a few years back, both in Toronto and at Progtoberfest and both shows were excellent.

I thought Accord retained many elements of Unfolded's greatness, but Captured never clicked with me and I haven't felt the need to play it since the time of its release. I never thought that had anything to do with Herin though. It's true that Bouda had that dirty almost grunge-like guitar tone that gave Discipline a lot of its character, IMO.

I want my Discipline dirty and with Bouda :-( it's like comfortably numb without that guitar solo
