Mick Taylor to join Stones tour as a "special guest"

    http://www.micktaylor.com/mick-taylo...and-hyde-park/

They're not playing anywhere near me but if I was in one of those cities I might be curious to see if Mick could burn like he used to. I wonder if they'd consider playing "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'."

That's good news! It'd be nice to see him capitalize a bit on the Stones' success since he's fallen on hard times in his later years. I've always liked the Stones best with him as lead guitarist.

Even though I prefer the Wood/Richards lineup, my favorite Stones album is Exile and Mick Taylor burns on it. So it will be nice to see him play with the band. I'm disappointed that they will not be doing a new album before the tour though. I really liked the two new songs on Grrr! and was hoping for a new release. Maybe next year.

Good news! Would be nice if Bill Wyman showed up as well.

He's by far and away the best.
What do you mean by "hard times?"

At one point, Mick Taylor was living a ramshackle existence and barely subsisting. He was also quite seriously ill a few years ago from drug addiction. His financial situation as far as the Stones was that he never recieved any appreciable songwriting royalties. I think Mick and Keith have always maintained that he never should have left the band and they're trying to do right by him financially.

Thanks for the info. I knew he never got any royalties, as Keith and Mick take all the writing credits AFAIK. I saw him in concert maybe 10 years ago or so. I sat in the first row in a small club. He was terrific. Max Middleton was with him. His first solo album is a classic. I hope he can get some money out of playing with The Stones and maintain his health.

    Here's a sad article from 2009 about Mick's situation.

Months ago I read that he was going to tour with them.

With regard to Taylor, I caught him with the Stones in '69; smooooooooth......

I hope he gets angry enough to haul their asses into court.

Hope Mick gets what he is truly due from the Stones. Can't understand for the life of me why he got screwed over by RS management like he did and why Keef and Mick couldn't see things through for him until now.

I saw MT on the White Lightning package tour (Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers w/Coco Montoya, MT) in Ft Lauderdale around 1989/1990 and Taylor was a trainwreck for this show (seriously out of it for both his main performance and all-artist jam at close of evening)...

They'd probably have to push him out in a wheel chair.

Judging by Taylor's remarks, this tour may be the Glimmer Twins' way of avoiding just that....
