BREAKING!: Yankees center fielder Aaron Judge will be at Times Square this New Years Eve so he can drop the ball.

The question is which writer will have the courage to give Lindor a first place vote for NL MVP thereby rightfully recognizing "most valuable" from "best player" ;-)

"Good"? How about historically great?
Lindor has a good case to make. They have to look at where the team would have been without the player. Considering that only one player was ever unanimously elected to the HOF shows that the voters are typically not all unbiased.
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
Settle down, kiddo. You got pretty riled up there. Watch that blood pressure. In this case, please forgive me, as I didn't attribute the wink icon to the suck statement because the icon was tagged to the previous sentence - (Hmm, sounds familiar. ) But, anyway... you seem to be taking the disastrous Yankees WS appearance pretty hard, so no worries, mkay?
Well, the team also needs to succeed. There have only been a few instances where an MVP came from a team that didn't have a great season. And that's because the stats were so good that you just couldn't deny them, like Arod with Texas. Every team has their own MVPs. This is about which player surpasses them all and drives their team to bigger things.
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
You mean like this?
I'm not riled up at all. I just felt that I needed to make what was painfully obvious to everyone else just a bit more clear for you.
I stated from the beginning how I expected them to get their asses handed to them. I've been hard on this team (except Judge) the entire season. I'm not taking this hard at all despite your meager attempts to get me "riled up." It's fucking baseball. It has no bearing on the things that really matter. I'm actually quite relieved the season is over since I no longer have to put up with their insufferable manager. Get a clue and go back to the school yard where you're a bit more competitive with that cunning wit of yours. You're out of your league here, kiddo.
Nice attempt at revisionism though. Now go shit on another thread.

When you have three guys that lead the league in home runs and RBI's your team does a lot better than they would have. But instead they give it to Trout or Cabrera based on WAR which most people don't even understand. I'm sure they could find someone with a WAR rating that might surpass Judge, now would that be fair.

Like I stated, there have been instances where the voters (not the fans) felt that a player's stats were so good that the team's record wasn't as much of a factor at might historically have been. Of course, the voters can certainly be biased, but not typically as much as the fans. I still can't believe that Gary Carter got it with the Mets in 1986 with only 40 extra base hits.
Who cares if most people don't understand WAR? Most people aren't the voters. People don't view stats like they did 20 years ago.
Cabrera got the freaking Triple Crown, bro. C'mon.
Top 4 WAR in MLB 2024
Aaron Judge WAR 10.8
Bobby Witt 9.4
Ohtahni 9.2
Gunnar Henderson 9.1
And so on...

I know you stated previously that Santandar should get it, but his WAR is at 2.9, which is a drop from last year. There's talk that the Yankees might go after him if they don't re-sign Soto. But, IMO, he's an all-or-nothing hitter, like a switch-hitting Joey Gallo. No thanks.

Here's a weird World Series fact ... this was the fifth year in a row Will Smith's team won the big show. Not the same Will Smith: it was the Dodger catcher in '20 and '24, and then a pitcher of the same name who played for all three teams that won in '21, '22, and '23...
Impera littera designata delenda est.
"I'm a big Aaron Boone fan. I think he's a great manager and I think we're lucky to have him," Cashman said Tuesday at the general managers meetings.

Well the big FA signed with the Mets. Crazy money, $765MM 15 yrs for Juan Soto. Yanks reportedly were close $760MM/16 yrs. The Yanks have a ton of holes as Holmes also signed with the Mets, plus Rizzo and Torres were both let go. To spend that much on Soto but not being close to having a full team, I think it's probably best that they get 2-3 FA's instead.
I expect other signings to happen very soon
^^
Agreed. I am a bit surprised he bolted, since he really enjoyed being a Yankee. But when you look at the real numbers, this wasn’t a mere $5 million difference in offers, as originally reported. Cohen’s final push featured a $75 million signing bonus, so Soto will average $61 million in AAV over the first five years of the deal, far more than the Yankees’ $47.5 million AAV submission. He’s getting more present-day money due in part to Cohen’s readily available wealth, and with one simple contract decision in 2029, this actually becomes an even more staggering $805 million deal for Soto.
They had holes, either way. I would not be surprised if they go back to Gleyber, but he might sign with Baltimore, since they moved in the fences. And the Yankees might let a hot player in the minors step in at 2B. Torres could be a bust for the O's since he'll be swinging for the fences all the time. He's a very low-IQ player.
I'm glad Holmes and Rizzo are gone. Holmes is a head case, and Rizzo is completely baked. They are still stuck with DJ LeMahieu who has been a dead weight for far too long.

Rizzo is toast. Nice career but the glory days are way behind him. Same for DJLM. Holmes had a great start and has done very well for the Yanks. Don’t know if he lost his nerve or not. Give him the 8th inning then or let him start imho. Torres is a head scratcher. He hit 38 homers in 2019 and everyone wants him to hit homers. 13 came against the AAAA Orioles. I believe it ruined him. Should have told him get your 10-15 and hit 300. He has the skill. Then have him watch a little league game to see how to get in front of a ball.
Anyway, NYY need to spread that money around and fix multiple holes. NYM have all the eyes and pressure on them. Soto can handle it, but can the rest of the Mets?
Who gets Alonso?
Mets grossly overpaid for Soto, but that is stating the obvious. He’s a top player and I wish him all the best as a former Nat. I always figured he would end up a Met even though the Sox, Dodgers, Yanks, and Jays all made a run for him. I think had the Yanks won he WS, it might have put the Yanks over the edge and he would have stayed with them.
A change in scenery will do Gleyber good.
The Sox seem to be connected with everyone, but haven’t done much yet. In my dream world, they sign Teoscar, Burnes, and bring someone like Eovaldi back, fill out the pen, parlay Duran and/or Casas for a controllable pitcher, then wait for the Fab Four to get promoted from Wooster.
