Aaron Boone blows the game for NY last night by bringing in a pitcher (Nestor) who hasn't pitched in forever, instead of a guy who had been on a roll. He also pulled Cole (at 88 pitches) who was well-rested and had been dealing. Bonehead fielding, too. This is what I expected to happen in the earlier rounds, too.

Too bad the pennant has probably already secured his job no matter what happens.

Pressure is on Rodon to pitch the game of his life tonight.

Caught a few early innings. Not a fan of either team. I saw the walk off, grand slam on YT.

Yankees are, unsurprisingly on their heels. Boone's boneheaded BP management in game 1 looms large and sucked away any chance of momentum going into the Bronx. That doesn't even consider the team's lack of fundamental sharpness (also on Boone) and Judge's absence with his nearly 50% K rate. You can just tell by the look on his face how he lacks confidence. At least he is owning up to it, unlike Boone, who has only gone as far as questioning whether or not he should have let Weaver go into a third inning to close out game 1, instead of considering that his idiotic pulling of a dealing Cole at 89 pitches created the problem in the first place.

They need to win all three at home.

I knew the odds were against them from the beginning and am happily surprised they won the pennant.

Sure, Yogi, it's not over 'til it's over. But it sure looks like they could get swept.

Yes - pulling Cole was stoopid - what is the purpose of spending ace style dollars and not let him deal...

I am surprised no one in the NY hot take media has not brought up "Mr. May" comparisons to Judge given its 1981 all over again (per Fox). HoF Dave went like 1 for 23 or something like that in that six game series

    edit: checked, it was 1-22

Oh, yeah, and that type of behavior it totally exclusive to Yankees fans. Do you actually believe that no other team's fans would do that, even though it would be an obvious minority, just like in this case?

They might still be giving him a chance to redeem himself. But I know the fan base has been using it for quite some time.

Of course not. I do, however, believe quite sincerely that Yankees fans have, and have for decades, led the league in this behavior.

I've heard fans booing the guest team, and I think that's intolerably rude. But celebrating when someone gets injured is just one step beyond.

I am contractually obligated to despise the Yankees infinitely, but the example you shared could be found within the fans of any team. You might see it more often with the Yankees only because they are typically annually competitive and have something to fight for at this stage.

If anything, I can't think of a year in which the Yankees went to the WS where their fans were actually a little more toned down, generally speaking.

If that isn't enough to disgust me with Yanks fans, consider the incident when Alex Verdugo tossed a ball to a kid, an adult Yanks fan grabbed the ball & threw it back at Verdguo, hitting him in the back... These things do not happen in most ballparks.

FFS get a clue, will you? This shit happens with all teams. That certainly doesn't make it right, but your bias has clearly clouded your objectivity. Phillies fans are notorious for being nasty. Every team has fans who do shit like this. You are entitled to hate anyone you want to. But you're just being silly.

Take a lesson from Cozy's objectivity.

Yankees are on the verge of an epic embarrassment they they truly deserve and is 100% unsurprising to anyone who followed them this year.

What's surprising to me is the difference in Judge between the ALCS and the WS. It's like Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.

Seems to me that he has been pretty much the same. As frustrating as he has been, he deserves credit for getting them there in the first place. And, let's face it, you can only go so far with only two guys hitting on your team.

I confess to not paying much attention to the WS, but when I checked in on it last night, I think I saw a graphic that said Judge only has one hit in the series. Hence my comment. Against us, he had a number of key hits, including some blasts.

I noticed this article on ESPN today:

Take away Soto and Stanton, and the rest of the team is hitting .150. Plus, they made a number of blunders on the field and on the base paths.

Let's face it, the AL is clearly the weaker league these days. They were lucky to get this far.

And, Baboone CONTINUES to pitch to Freeman.

These guys are fucking idiots. They spent probably $1000 for tickets and got kicked out during the first inning only to miss a huge win by their team while showing the whole country what dopes they are.

It cracks me up that people think asshole fans are exclusive to the Yankees.

NEWS FLASH! All fans of any particular team are not the same.

Capobianco and Peter were escorted out of Yankee Stadium but said they were told they would be allowed back for Game 5 on Wednesday. The Yankees did not immediately respond to ESPN's request for comment regarding if that was indeed the case.

"I know when I'm in the wrong and as soon as I did it, I was like, 'Boys I'm out of here,'" Capobianco told ESPN. "I patrol that wall and they know that."
Will they, the Yankees, let their best douchey fans back into their season ticket seats for tonight's game? This will be telling if the Yankees allow these cretins to return. Ya know, he patrols that wall, so... watch out.

That fan intentionally put his hands on the Dodgers player during the game. It wasn't incidental contact. The idiot fan then uses an explanation that lead us to believe he will do it again if given the opportunity. Do we all agree he should lose his future season ticket prospects?

And... GO DODGERS! I hope the Dodgers pulverize the Yankees tonight.

^ Can't argue with any of that.

I'm fine with whatever their rules allow. I think they told him he can come back for game 5, but I could be mistaken. They can only do what their stated rules allow, which I don't know. If they can ban him, good.

I find it silly how people use this as a broad brush to paint all Yankees fans. Go ahead and hate the team and organization for whatever reason you want. It's a free country. But to suggest that I am just like them because we root for the same team makes you look childish and petty.

For the record, when it happened, a friend and I, who have been messaging together throughout these games, both indicated our disgust. I'm sure we're in the majority.

I don't think anyone has suggested anything like that. Show me 5 people, and I'll show you 5 people that are vastly different from one another, much less 40,000 people.

Of course I don't think assholery is unique to Yanks fans. I do think that the cultures surrounding some teams are more toxic than others.

I live about a mile from the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, and I was thrilled when they announced the Raiders were moving to Vegas: not because I have anything against the Raiders themselves (though my interest in American football is negligible), but because their fans were, if not the worst, then certainly among the worst, in organized sports in the US. (Don't get me started about the racist fans in Euro football...) I remember, after one postseason game -- don't remember if they won or they lost -- the fans, or rather a subset of them, went ape and were setting fire to cars and shit. But I don't hold this against the team; they did a lot of good community stuff.

I will claim that the Yankees' fan culture encourages the kind of behavior we've been discussing. Not that most, or even many, of the fans actually engage in it, but that it's a particularly toxic fandom.

Plus, I hate the team itself, the team that pretty much defines capitalistic excess in sports...

Baselessly, of course. Now, if you were to say certain segments, then, yes. But, generally, absolutely not.

    Whatever.
