They're doing a great impression of the 2023 Yankees.

Last night in Seattle had some of the worst, if not THE worst, umpiring behind home plate. There were at least four called strike threes that were waaay off the plate. It was an embarrassment.

The Tigers are 25-10 since the trade deadline which is rather miraculous as I had completely written them off. Getting guys like Carpenter and Green back from the injury list has helped. Young guys have stepped up and patchwork bullpen pitching days have proven successful. I still am not sure that I would bet on them making the playoffs, but they have at least made things interesting. This weekend's series is crucial for both teams.

When was the last time we had no teams finishing with a .600 winning percentage or better? That could very well happen this year.

The Mets have played .600 ball over last 100 games.

If only they hadn't played .350 ball for first 45

As of 5pm - Mariners leading Yanks

The Ms absolutely need this win today for morale and to stay competitive into final week

Yanks are doing everything they can to lose. Not to take anything away from the Mariners.

In a game for the ages, Shohei Ohtani hit THREE homers, stole two bases, went 6-for-6 and drove in 10 runs to post MLB's first 50-50 season.

He is a once in a lifetime player.

I do think stolen bases are not what they used to be with the new rules. Not to take anything away from Ohtani, but could you imagine Rickey Henderson with larger bases and only two pickoff attempts allowed?

    Good point.

Just heard an interesting stat. MLB players are collectively batting .169 with two strikes.

Ohtani keeps hitting HRs. Looks like he might pass Judge.

With a five home run night the Orioles have regained the home run lead.

Second and third with no outs in bottom of ninth score tied and you can't score the winning run.

Laz Diaz behind the plate in Oakland with his classic terrible calls. He has competition by tonight's 1B umpire who was overruled on challenges twice in the first three innings.

Looks like the O's are going to have to settle for second place.

They still have three games with them. All they have to do is end up tied.

They will be five games back after tonight. That's why I wrote "looks like."
