Thank You Scientist vocalist Salvatore Marrano leaves the band

From the Thank You Scientist facebook page. He will be tough to replace.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce Salvatore Marrano has left Thank You Scientist to focus on his family responsibilities. We wish him all the best in this new chapter and thank him for his years of service in TYS. We are unfortunately left with no choice but to cancel the remainder of our scheduled performances for this year. Your patience and support is appreciated as we take some time to regroup and figure out our next step. Rest assured, we will make this up to everyone."

Damn, bummer...but totally understandable. Family's got to come first. It'll be interesting to see which direction this will take the band.

Since many of the current TYS guys are in Zappa-esque fusion band We Used to Cut the Grass (who recently played Progday), I wonder if that will mean more shows by them.

That's too bad but these things happen. I suppose it wouldn't be the worse thing if they became an instrumental band but I doubt that would happen.

Enjoyed them live twice (NJ Proghouse Homecoming some ten years ago and more recently at the show where I contracted Covid) so will be interested in seeing what happens next...

Bummer, I know not everyone liked Sal's vocal style, but I thought he was the perfect fit for the band.

Wow. I didn't really care for his vocals, and I don't think it would be so hard to find a better vocalist (although I don't know if he wrote anything?), but he was a great frontman who helped define the band, so to find a new vocalist AND frontman is always a tall order I think. He was a nice guy too, the one time I met him.

I agree with everything you said. I hope they don't do what a lot of bands seem to do though and that is to try to find a singer who sounds like him. I hope it's just someone who's able to do the job with his (or her) own spin on things.

Forgot to say, part of what made him a good frontman was that he was really funny, IMO.

He’s a fantastic front man. Sorry to hear it.
