The great actor Richard Griffiths died last night after heart surgery.
I first became a fan of him after watching the brilliant "A Kind of Living" starring alongside Frances De La Tour. Later his portrayal of reluctant detective/wannabe gourmet chef Henry Crabb in Pie In The Sky was and remains one of my favourite tv shows of all time.
An interesting fact I just found out is that both of his parents were deaf and he learned sign language at the same time as learning to speak. He seemed to incorporate into his acting the technique of probing other actors with his eyes - you can see a little bit of that in the trailer to Pie in the Sky
