Massive Camel box-set is about to come out

Came across this on a couple of German sites:
    https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/det.../hnum/11454621

No word about it on the site of the band, though.

I really am interested in this edition, with the price half of some band charge for one album's reissue, it's a steal!

It was always on the cards. The track list is what’s expected, lots of live stuff. Auto buy!

Looks like a beauty, but I've got the complete Camel studio (and most of their live) albums, as well as a couple of DVDs. Those Blu-ray discs are intriguing though.

Huge box set (27 CDs plus 5 blu-rays) by Universal was announced on several German online shops, with release date being May 26:
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the release of their self-titled debut album, this 32-disc super deluxe boxed set is the definitive tribute to the legendary band Camel. The boxed features newly remastered versions of every Camel album and single issued between 1973 and 1984, but also includes new stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound versions of the albums “Camel”, “Mirage”, “Music Inspired by The Snow Goose”, “Moonmadness” and “Nude”, as well as new mixes of three concerts; The Marquee Club, London 1974, Hammersmith Odeon 1976 and Hammersmith Odeon 1977 The set also features previously unreleased out-takes from album recording sessions and BBC Radio “In Concert” appearances from 1974, 1975, 1977 and 1981. Additionally included is a Blu ray video disc of promotional videos and BBC TV appearances on “The Old Grey Whistle Test” and “Sight and Sound In Concert” and a Blu ray video disc of the 1984 concert film “Pressure Points”

The boxed set includes a lavishly illustrated book with essay and a poster.

At that price, this is excellent news. I'm worried that once it gets to vendors in the US the price will go up!

My question to Ken Golden, if he happens to see this: Why is this set so much less expensive than the big box sets of Caravan, Gentle Giant, etc? Do you think the contents (physical and the music and printed matter) will be comparable, or is there some good reason this set costs so much less? Just looking for some insight from the expert!

I assume the Blu Ray discs are Blu Ray Audio? I have software that can rip the audio files from a Blu Ray. Hopefully the files will be 24/96.

Mirage is the only Camel album available for hi res download and streaming. I have the SACDs of Moonmadness and Raindances, but they don't sound very good to my ears.

Well, I hope the German site is legit. It was only 9 shipping to Canada. Total cost, $177 Canadian. It's so cheap it leaves me a bit uneasy but I have the receipt and Paypal has guarantees for shipping items.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

I'm pretty sure I ordered something from them once before and it worked out.

I see there are some track marked "previously unreleased." I also see the tracks from Nude and Stationary Traveller listed an AWFUL lot. It's giving me "ELP boxed set" vibes, where you see the tracks from Black Moon more times than you want to. Still, at that price...

Somehow this news made me pull out the big Caravan boxed set. NP: Blind Dog at St. Dunstans.

Interesting, but I think I have all their Decca albums. Perhaps missing some live stuff. Only have A live record and Presure points. Don't have use for the Blu Ray disks.

I probably would be more interested in their later albums, I don't own.

€112 delivered is an unreal price! Don’t know have they’ve managed this, but so glad that they have!

Good news! I’ll wait for an American retailer, but this seems like an obvious auto buy.

i don't know.. seems like there's a lot of duplication. i will say this though - the fact they stopped at Nude is a good thing.

I went with JPC - $127 US includes shipping. I checked Burning Shed and ImportCDs first, but nothing.

Yes, but it doesn't happen that much that the store I used to visit a lot, had something that was cheaper than at other places.

Mm....really I only need the live stuff as I have the studio albums. Do I need them that much? Idk...

If they had their last four or five albums in there I would probably buy as I have only Rajaz.

I’m not into Camel enough to want this, but I think credit is due to Universal for putting something together that represents very good value.

A difficult choice. The same for me. I have:
    Camel
    Mirage
    Music inspired by The snowgoose
    Moonmadness
    Rain dances
    A live record
    Breathless
I can see your house from here
    Nude
    The single factor
    Stationary traveler
    Pressure points
So that makes something like 13 CDs of live stuff I don't own?
