My initial feeling is that it's better than I feared it would be. Most of the songs played at the Lyceum are there for instance.

It all depends on the price and quality of the source material used.

Interesting. Anyone know why the full Lyceum concert wouldn't be here? I wouldn't mind being an honest buyer of it after enjoying the boot for many years, just seems a shame.

    Exactly.

I see it has one Ray Wilson track too.

The missing tracks are included via earlier versions from Knebworth. I would guess that Collins' between song comments are greatly edited. Which I don't mind...the 'Albert' stuff does go on a bit.

Actually two tracks- maybe the biggest surprise. I was alerted to 'The Dividing Line' having a different, better ending live on another forum.

Disappointed that there's only 1 Gabriel-era disc. On the Hoffman forum, some are suggesting that the '75 Wembley is being held back for a big Lamb box (which was mentioned right when the pandemic hit, then shelved per a Hackett comment). Probably next year, the 50th anniversary (Gabriel's probably re-recording the vocals as we speak ). Most of the Collins stuff has been "represented" already in previous live releases, with a few exceptions. Can't imagine the versions being that different.

The '87 songs from Wembley have already been officially released. I wish they would go thru each tour and give us the best show, or do like the Live Over Europe with the best songs from a tour. The Lyceum show is well known, I wonder if it can be cleaned up any more. Wouldn't have minded more of the Wilson led Genesis live also.

I wonder if those tracks on Disc One are the same ones released on the Archive sets from the 90s?

If you mean Shepherd, Pacidy, and Let Us Now Make Love, yes they are. They also made the 'green' box from 2008, so this is the third time they've seen an official release.

Stagnation '71 was also on the first Archive box.

Amen! Had they put out a full Knebworth 78 and Lyceum 80 I would buy this in a heartbeat, even with the substantial penalty disc surcharge. I still might buy this just out of a sense of guilt for enjoying the boots for so many years but I doubt it will ever see the inside of my CD players.

EDIT: I just noticed one good thing about the truncated shows. They cut the "Turn it on Again medley" from Wembley 87. That has gotta be the worst piece of music by any major prog band that you would care to name...

It looks like the Lyceum gig is almost complete with only the songs that are repeated from Knebworth edited out.
As much as I'm excited to see some archival material finally released, this looks like yet another missed opportunity to do things right.
I'll still be all over this, for sure.

TBH, only the first disc really interests me (though I've already got some of it), but if it came out as a double disc affair with the first two discs (maybe even the third), it would be a no-brainer. yeah, some of these Lyceum versions would be interesting to hear at least once.

    10. Mama (Live At The Lyceum Theatre, London, UK, 1980)
    11. Domino (Live At The Lyceum Theatre, London, UK, 1980)
    how is that possible??

It will be nice to have officially released versions of the early stuff, I wish they had included all of it though. There's the May '71 work in progress version of The Musical Box which ran 12 minutes given the longer arrangement, but then they didn't want too many repeat songs, so they went with the finished rendition. But why exclude Hogweed?

I'll get this, and the price seems quite reasonable, but it would have been nice to be able to toss the bootleg version in the trash.

BTW there is a 3-LP vinyl version of this set as well, though only about half the tracks or so.

An obvious typo that was copied and pasted from the Amazon track listing. Those two tracks are from Wembley '87.

Speaking of that era, it had occurred to me (and I mentioned over on Hoffman forums) that Abacab is strangely absent from the Wembley '87 show. That version is actually of minor historical significance as it was the last time it was ever played live. Surprising as it may seem, the band axed Abacab (the song and everything else from the album) after that '87 tour and it was never played live again. That's 35 years ago now! Might be a 'who cares' moment to some people, but I found that a strange and interesting realization. It only ever lasted six years in their set.

It's true. However this particular version of Abacab did see an official release on CD as a B side in 1992 (on a single from The Way We Walk vol 1). Other tracks from the 87 Wembley gig also appeared as B sides around that time (Invisible Touch and The Brazilian come to mind) which doesn't prevent them from being reissued here. The Brazilian had actually also been on the Archive 1976-2000 box so it's the third official release for this one.
