    I Totally Disagree

with the ranking of these Pink Floyd albums: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/pink...-album-review/

    I'd probably go:

    1. DSoTM
    2. Meddle
    3. Ummagumma
    4. The Endless River
    5. More
    6. Atom Heart Mother
    7. A Saucer Full of Secrets
    8. Wish You Were Here

and The Wall next to last place, with The Final Cut being the last place.

    You?

Saucerful #1, More #2, otherwise spot on

TFC isn't even a PF album. It's Waters solo (with paid sidemen).

    And The Wall wasn't a Water's solo?

WYWH is the best Floyd album period. Piper is next.

Excuse me, where the F##K is Animals (my favourite)
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

Good question! I totally disagree with any list that doesn't include Animals!

I see where they are coming from but I don't really agree with it either.

It's on the list at number 4. Not sure how you guys missed it unless you are referring to the OP's personal list. Personally, I find it a bit overrated but I still like it.

My top five would be something like:

    WYWH
    AHM
    The Wall
    Animals
    Meddle

DSOTM would probably be number 6. It's just way too played out for me to put it any higher. I also think AMLOR is underrated. Actually dark side would probably be 7. I think I like Piper better.

We WERE referring to the OP poster's list.

Oh ok. Take out Saucer and put in Animals. Saucer is a bit uneven anyway.

I would take out the final cut and replace with the Division Bell.

Yes, but on Silent cries it is really obvious, some parts almost sound like a rip-off.

I never heard anything that sounded like a direct ripoff from WYWH. However, the bass line from "Master Of Sensation" always sounded like something from Animals to me ( I think Sheep). The album as a whole was probably influenced by WYWH but I personally can't pinpoint a specific song to that album.

Any list that lacks both Animals and Piper is just cray-cray.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.

I listened to Animals again because of this thread. It didn't change my opinion of it. Roger sings only two pitches, both badly and very nasally, and it's one of the worst recordings (even the 2018 remaster) I've ever heard. There is no bass below 100 cycles, and the drums were apparently recorded over a telephone line?

Which is especially odd considering all of the technology and care that went into DSOTM and WYWH.

Plus there's the fact that because of Roger Water's insistance (and control) Rick Wright's keyboard parts were greatly downplayed on Animals. He's all over the place on WYWH but other than the middle section of Dogs his playing takes a far lesser role than on the previous albums (especially WYWH).

It's on the original list with the link, I didn't include it on mine. Probably at #9. Though many of those can shift around depending on my mood.

I think it wasthe opening-track that sounded a bit like Welcome to the machine. At least it was something me and my schoolmates thought.

Were Eloy popular in the Netherlands? If so I didn't know that. I know that most people probably had no idea who they were in the US (unlike PF) but most of Europe might have been different.

20 years after first hearing it, Animals is still my favorite Floyd album.

They were not populair, but one of my schoolmates was into progressive rock. We used to play together. Him on harmonium, recorder and vocals, me on synthesizer and a friend of a friend on acoustic guitar. I used to call it Salvation Army rock, because of the harmonium. I think Silent cries mighty echoes was played in a Dutch progressive rock show.
