Wow. So sad. I saw earlier she wasn't doing too good so this is not a shock but still a surprise. RIP.

President George H. W. Bush didn't survive that long after Barbara's death. Similar story with her majesty losing her beloved Prince Philip. That kind of heartbreak is difficult to overcome.

Not many of us are old enough to remember a time when Elizabeth wasn’t queen. Her coronation was on my negative third birthday.

I expected this when I read about the family summoning at Balmoral earlier today.

What an era she witnessed and reigned. Or rather an epoch. Ghastly yet over-and-out of this world-times of man.

Numb bones. And I'm not even a monarchist.

Here in Canada, I suppose we will soon have new currency with King Charles' face on it. That will be a new thing for so many of us. Queen Elizabeth reigned for 45% of my country's lifespan. That's incredible.

One of my favorite memories as a young American boy in London was standing with thousands upon thousands of people on The Mall during her Silver Jubilee in 1977 and the cheering and waving... The spectacle and grandeur of it all... breathtaking and seared in my memory.

    RIP Queen Elizabeth

Rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth. Only queen of England throughout my life.

I'm old enough to remember when she became Queen, I was 12 years old and 13 when she was crowned. Lot's of street parties and flags. R.I.P. Your Majesty.

More likely what people have nightmares about! Endless obligations, endless protocol, always in the public eye, no possibility of the comforts of a private citizen to live a normal life. She did it with grace and dignity and she deserves respect for that... and for me, monarchs exist to get decapitated, but after all, she wasn't an actual monarch, just a titular head.

She devoted a life to public service with very little thanks and effectively zero power. Gotta respect that however much I hate the institution.

I wish Canada would cut ties with the Monarch. I don't see any reason for it. Still, she was much beloved by many Canadians.
