in case anyone is interested, here's an interview with Eric Bloom. I'd really prefer one intact interview, but this is a series of short segments, I guess for short attention spans.

It seems BOC are now playing fairs and the like, which indicates playing their more recognizable tunes in my experience. They used to play Slim's in San Francisco and played lots of obscure material. This July they will be at Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Just grumbling I suppose.
Maybe I'll catch them this time. Last time they were at the Boardwalk it was on my wife's birthday. Going to a festival-type show wasn't what she wanted to do, so...
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world.
I just have to ask:why did Rudy Sarzo leave BOC for Tateryche?
My favorite BOC hit is..........GODZILLA!!!!.
That song SLAMS!

It would be interesting to know which gig paid more. BOC generally plays to larger crowds, but they are usually free (or cheap) festival / fair type gigs. Queensrcyche was mainly playing clubs on their last tour, but getting $30 to $35 per ticket. Not sure which situation would be better off financially. Maybe it had to do with Sarzo just wanting to be involved in doing new music since BOC seems to have given up on that.

Here is a link the answer to why Rudy left: http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/n...e-oyster-cult/

WTF? That sounds like the reason that Billy Sherwood gave for backing out of mixing FU. I was under the impression that Rudy left BOC to play with QR. If he left BOC due to scheduling with other bands(as the linked article states), then why not just stay with BOC and not go to Tateryche?

I think the Queensryche thing came along a bit after the fact. Sarzo had been playing with Dio's Diciples at the same time he was touring with BOC, and as mentioned in the article was involved with some other projects as well. BOC still keeps a pretty heatly touring schedule that goes pretty much year round. I don't get the impression that the Queensryche deal had anything to do with his leaving BOC due to having already left BOC by the time that came around.

From the article Stvesly linked to:
Sarzo tells Ultimate Classic Rock: “Due to my scheduling with other projects that I’m doing, it became a little bit hard for me to keep a really solid working schedule with BOC. “We amicably parted ways so they can find somebody who can devote more time to the band, and I can pursue other bands that I’m doing.”
I was hoping for some Spinal Tappish drama with drunken brawls and guys cheating on their wives. Instead we get "we amicably parted ways due to scheduling."
When I saw BOC they had a bassist named Dan or Danny Miranda. I think that was the guy that joined the Queen/Paul Rodgers touring band.
Sarzo is a pretty classy guy and typically does not throw around any dirt, so if the parting was not amicable he probably would not admit it in public anyway. Regarding Miranda, yes he did play bass on the Rogers / Queen tour. He also toured with Meatloaf on his most recent outing. Miranda was in BOC for quite a few years and appears on the "Curse Of The Hidden Mirror" album.

Yeah, the rhythm section of Miranda and Bobby Rondinelli was very powerfull. I think that's why I like that album (Curse ....) so much. As far as Rudy goes, I agree he's a class act. I know he had a bad falling out with Kevin Dubrow (Quiet Riot). The only reason I know this is because I saw the Behind The Music episode, or maybe it was one of those VH1 "list" shows where Rudy mentioned he couldn't stand Dubrow. But Rudy didn't sound bitter or angry about it. He does seem to be a journeyman, "hired gun" type of musician though. He's everywhere, and yet I don't think I have any albums with him on it.Miranda was in BOC for quite a few years and appears on the "Curse Of The Hidden Mirror" album.
