What's your recipe against INSOMNIA (mine is oldies music)?

I think I'll never have sleepless nights anymore. This is the perfect "dope" to fall asleep in just minutes. My latest discovery on YT. 😁😁
There are tons of such videos on this channel (but try this one first!!!!). And what do you do against sleepless nights?

Mostly instrumental tunes featuring cello, piano or acoustic guitar. My biggest go-to is Adam Hurst, a cellist with some Dream inducing music.

It's been a while since I had trouble, but I used to go lie on the couch facing away from the TV tuned to CSPAN at a volume that's low enough to hear all the blathering but not be able to make out the words, and pretty soon, ZZZzzzzzzzzzz

    My recipe against insomnia?

    Sheer exhaustion.

As Calvin once said, the days are just packed.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.

Maintain a routine. Take a shower about 4-5 hours before you go to bed. Being stuffed with food helps me.. Relax any way you can.

I also turn off the phone at 6-7pm.. I eat, watch some "dumb" TV, but nothing too exciting. I have some "smoke".. I'll watch old episodes of stuff from MeTV, etc., (Wanted: Dead or Alive, The Rifleman) until I can't keep my eyes open, which is usually when I take my last leak, and if I still have trouble keeping my eyes open, I go to bed immediately.

I also must keep it as cold as possible. The sound of the window AC unit helps block all the other sounds -- traffic, birds, neighbors, etc.

Listening to classic comedy radio show MP3s at night while I lay down. Jack Benny, Bob Hope, etc. I like falling asleep to laughs, it makes me smile and eases me.

I worked 3rd or 2nd shift for the last 15 years of my career, but also had to be in during the day for meetings, so never had anything close to a normal sleep pattern. I am now retired, but still rely on Ambien most of the time for sleep. I have been taking it for years and it works well for me.

If I am truly desperate I have some instructional videos that could tranquilize a rhino. I have yet to watch one all the way through.

Fripp & Eno's The Equatorial Stars works okay.

    Television always works for me.

^^ Television works for me too often when I don't want it to. Sometimes to the point where it's almost painful to try to stay awake.

Exactly! I can be trying to watch something in the evening and can't keep my eyes open. Late at night it is the exact opposite.

Same here. Possibly because during primetime, I'm drowsy from just having dinner. But by late night, I'm pretty much over it.

Same here, I tend to get drowsy after eating. It seems to be worse as I have gotten older as it hardly ever used to happen.

Because NIR induces intracellular production of melatonin, better and longer sleep occurs:
