"Celebrating the Dragon" - A Tribute to John Wetton (out 5/13/22)

"Cristiano Roversi, producer and traveling artist in the maze of the most curious music, has created for Ma.Ra.Cash. Records a double Cd tribute to John Wetton, entitled CELEBRATING THE DRAGON.
The 22 artists present performed pieces from the solo repertoire of Wetton, King Crimson, U.K., Uriah Heep and Asia. As usual in operations of this type, the approach is very different between the participants. There are those who have chosen the rigorous way, more or less, and those who have considerably changed the cards on the table.

What is the right approach? It does not exist, because it depends on one's sensitivity, both of the listener and of the musician / performer. The audio result is of a good standard, in some cases excellent, thanks also to the work in the studio to master the songs so that there were not too many steps between one and the other.

John's story is told by timeless classics and almost forgotten songs that take on a new life.

CELEBRATING THE DRAGON is a sincere tribute to John, where every participant did their utmost to remember him. In addition to the Italian artists there are Andy Tillison of Tangent and Richard Palmer-James, friend and collaborator of Wetton, first in King Crimson and then together in several albums.

I'm the founder member of Sterbus, and we're very glad to be on it with our version of "Turn on The Radio"... Dominique did the lead vocals, I played my Rickenbacker bass and we've been helped by Leonardo Mirenda and Martino Petrella, guitarists from Il Dolo... Hope you like it!

Very cool! Nice track selection. I grabbed the CD version to add to collection of Wetton related CDs (which is pretty comprehensive).

    Is "Randevous 6.02" a typo or ....?
    It's also on the Bandcamp-page.

I was surprised to see Andrea Chimenti doing a track. He's more in the field of David Sylvian-like music and has just released a new CD featuring David Jackson.

Nice to read it was Cristiano Roversi from Moongarden who organized the whole thing. He also produced the album by Andrea Chimenti mentioned in post #5, on which he also plays bass, keys and synths.

Note the track In The Dead Of Night by The Tangent is part of the 16 minutes bonustrack on their new album Songs From the Hard Shoulder.
