The soundclips sound right to me. They made an interesting choice selecting a vocalist who isn't a soundalike at all but who may somehow capture the emotional quality of the songs.

^ Yes, he sounds great!
Sounds very good indeed!
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
I waited on listening to this as David's loss still really stings for this BBT fan. Now that I have, I can say that Alberto sounds great and I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings to the band.
Currently going through a review copy of the new BBT biography Between The Lines by Grant Moon. I think it will definitely be of interest to fans. More to come on that!

The vocals sound excellent.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)
I am really impressed with the vox in that video. Bring on Alberto!

BBT posted on Facebook today that they're going to make some big announcement tomorrow. Conjecture included tour dates, or the possible release of David Longdon's solo album (which would be quite good news! So would touring, especially if it includes the US). So tune in tomorrow!
Indeed, David's solo album "Door One" is to be released on October 14th.
On the same day, BBT's performance at Night of the Prog from a few years ago will be released on Blu-Ray and CD.
Pre-order for both is available now on (UK) Burning Shed: https://burningshed.com/store/englis...ric-recordings and (USA) The Bandwagon: https://thebandwagonusa.com

I’m delighted that David’s solo is getting a release, and I’m looking forward to hearing his voice on some new music one more time.
I have been reading the BBT book this week, it’s a very well written and interesting story. It is quite moving when you get to The Underfall Yard sessions and see how he elevated their music and quality, everyone is so excited for the what will develope from the relationship, but in the back of your mind you know the sadness that awaits. It’s an expensive book, but beautifully put together. PE even gets a mention on page 80!

Wow - It is quite emotional to hear clips of these new songs. I actually had some difficulty listening to that preview, this loss still seems so raw.
From the Burning Shed blurb:
90% finished at the time of David Longdon’s tragic and untimely death in November 2021, Door One is the posthumous album from the multi-award winning singer, songwriter, producer and voice of Big Big Train.
Completed by a working party of musicians close to the multi-instrumentalist and spear-headed by co-producer/engineer, Patrick Phillips (Kate Bush, Van Morrison, Goldfrapp, Ludovico Einaudi), the album was recorded using 4 core players, Jeremy Stacey (King Crimson, Noel Gallagher, The Finn Brothers), Theo Travis (Steven Wilson, Soft Machine, Gong), Steve Vantsis (Fish) and Gary Bromham (Bjork, Sheryl Crow, George Michael)
The album’s 8 stunning tracks chart a journey from darkness into enlightenment.
CD edition with cover Portrait by Sarah Louise Ewing and sleeve notes by Mike Barnes (Mojo, The Guardian, Prog)
The cover art is nice; I prefer it to the last two BBT covers.
Yes I agree, Sarah has really captured David in that portrait, she is a very talented artist. Of course this was a labour of love for her but it must have been very emotional too.
Spawton and D'Virgilio are all that's left from The Underfall Yard, yet somehow the band maintains not just its sound but its character.

That is an interesting observation. I do think Greg picks his band members as much on their character as he does on their undoubted musical ability. I was concerned as to how they would replace David, as he seemed so much part of the DNA of latter days BBT, but I was won over by his performance on the last tour. I am sure David Longdon's song-writing will be a difficult component to replace, but I remain ever hopeful that the story will continue in a new and captivating arc.
Very nice!
When I think about The absence of Longdon’s songwriting, I try to remember The Underfall Yard. Still many fans’ favorite BBT album, written in its entirety by Spawton. I’m not impressed by Nick as a composer, but there are Rikard, and Carly, and we don’t yet know what the new guy can contribute. But my perhaps-controversial view is that BBT is and always was primarily a vehicle for Spawton’s songwriting, as well as his vision for what kind of band he wants it to be.
