never "got" the FFs, never felt the need to be able to do so … but THIS is what i will remember him for (this, and the induction speeches …) – and his boundless energy. one good guy less in this world that is seemingly running short on good guys. RiP TH.

Such sad news. I wasn't really a fan of Foo Fighters (though I liked some of their songs), but I always liked Taylor and he seemed like a nice guy. So tragic to lose him at such an early age too. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Could never get into the Foos but Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl seem like cool, rock dudes. Sorry about Taylor. 50 is too young. I know he worshipped The Professor. If there is an afterlife Taylor Hawkins and Neil Peart are jamming.

Anyway, for those that don't know, Taylor was apparently childhood friends with Jon Davison (current lead singer of Yes) and is the one who told Chris Squire about him which ultimately led to him being hired as their new singer after Benoit David.

He was so incredibly kind, generous, and free-spirited. He had boundless positive energy and was a master of his craft. He thrived under any spotlight, on any stage, in any venue. Everyone in my circle of musician friends, myself included, respected and adored him.

He was a bright shining light in our lives and his spirit had so much love for so many people.

I am completely devastated by the loss of my super-powered friend.

I've never been much for the Foos but he seems by all indications like a great guy, and also like a huge and unapologetic prog fan. I saw a post just a couple of weeks ago about him saying on the Howard Stern show that King Crimson should be in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

I did see somewhere that he had a heart attack but maybe people were just saying that because of the "chest pains" description.

London, 2001: 2 weeks in a coma due to heroin overdose.
After this near fatal experience, Taylor was always open and honest about his addictions, his daily struggle and offered his testimony for anyone who wanted to know and learn about it without even proposing it; it was just his "testimony" as he always said.
