BTW, I see many articles claiming what arrhythmia Hamlin had, but not one thing directly from his doctors.

Fatalities in the sport of football are rare but tragic events. A total of 20 deaths among football players during the 2021 football season were collected by NCCSIR: 4 traumatic injury deaths, 13 exertional/medical (indirect) deaths, and 3 non-football/non-exertion related deaths.

Ravens Bengals first tie breaker is head to head record if they have the same division record. Who knows what the NFL will decide.

I would imagine that the NFL would (and absolutely should) go by winning percentage, if this game is not made-up.

Not pro or anti vax, but myocarditis should be part diagnosis regimen for cardiac cases.

Then they should take away one of the Ravens losses or make one of them a tie to make it fair.

I heard the NFL will go by percentage. But I can't remember if I heard that on the radio, TV, or ESPN.

From the NY Times, 10:57am ET:

    How is Hamlin now?

The Bills said on Thursday morning that Hamlin’s health was improving, though he was still in critical condition.

“Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours,” the team said in a statement on Twitter, attributing the update to doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. “While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress.”

    What caused the cardiac arrest?

It is not yet known why Hamlin’s heart stopped. But cardiac experts said the blow to his chest may have sent his heart into an arrhythmia. That injury is unusual: The chest must be struck in a brief moment — about 20 milliseconds — while the heart is relaxing.

They said on Morning Joe this morning that Hamlin is awake. They didn't say if he is still on a respirator or not.

If needed the NFL will likely go to the COVID rules they adopted in case of unequal regular season lengths.

Those rules are already in public domain.

From the league's "Emergencies and Unfair Acts provisions in the Policy Manual for Member Clubs: Game Operations," according to the NFL rule book.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/w...and-best-path/

"The manual states that if a game is suspended without a winner, Goodell would have the discretion to treat the game as a tie or determine the teams' records based off winning percentage.

"If a game is canceled, a team's standing in its division or in its conference (e.g. qualifying as a wild card in the playoffs or position in playoff seeding) shall be determined on the basis of its final record," the manual reads."

So if the Ravens beat them twice and have the same amount of wins that doesn't matter.

Then the Ravens should just mail it in and stay home and practice for another week and keep the team injury free since there is no incentive for them to play.

It was interesting to hear the docs say that one of the first things Hamlin asked was "who won the game".

Yeah. This whole story is just insane. The medical staff apparently is saying that the Bills' medical team had minutes, if not seconds, to act and save his life.

I'm with you Ed. If this was Atlanta vs Arizona, no one would give a fuck. But it was a key game with huge repercussions on seeding in the AFC, and they need to do whatever they have to to get that game in. Even if it means the open week before the SB goes away.

    But the NFL rules differently:
