    How do you PE?

Just curious how you do PE? If you have a pattern of reading and responding what is it?

    Mine goes like this -

New Posts - Hit this first to see latest on anything I'm active in.
Subscribed - Second step allows me to see posts in threads I am following but may have missed in New Posts

The only other thing I do is Search. Sometimes I forget a thread name or I want to search for a topic to read or post.

    What's your method?

99% of the time I just hit "new posts" and scan for those that interest me, then hit "mark all as read" to clear things out so it's fresh the next time I check. Occasionally I search for a topic or keyword, but that is rare.

Oooh I haven't employed the "mark all as read" tactic yet, I just scroll and scroll ... Thanks!!

'New Posts' every time. I pay zero attention to which sub-forum is which, unless I'm creating a new thread.

Why Does It Hurt When I PE?

Almost always on a laptop, New Posts.

If I'm trying to PE on a tablet or phone I hit Desktop Mode and then I can sort of get an approximation of using a real computer, though I have to zoom in quite a bit because my eyes aren't what they once were.

I’m the opposite - subscribed posts first then new posts.
I get a lot of use out of the “go to 1st unread” little blue button on the left hand side of the thread name. That way if a thread from years ago suddenly reappears I can go to the new post instantly.

I'm not certain which of those two things is more disturbing.

I also read every updated thread from the very beginning for context.

I pretty much always look at New Posts exclusively. Occasionally I branch out from there, though mostly that about does it for me unless I'm looking for something in particular.

If you are interested in a Palm webOS touchpad - lemme know - I got a spare one NIB (for real); could totally transform your "game" (also for real).

I had a HP Touchpad running WebOS. I ended up putting Android on it, and it lasted maybe 3 or 4 years before dying on me.

That's so small, I've never even noticed it. Nifty.

Subscribed first to see all the threads I've been contributing to, then new posts to see anything of interest. I hadn't thought of the "mark all as read" option, that sounds a good idea.

    Mostly standing up.

I go for Subscribed posts first, then New Posts to see what piques my interest. Never noticed that blue button before!

Me, too, but since I got older, mostly sitting down now.

I look at the Community (birthdays) page first, but since the Geezer left, there hasn't been a post there in a long time. Then I do What's New, then the main board, then Way-Off Topic, and finally Off-Topic.

'Go to 1st unread' is essential IMO. Anyone who hasn't discovered that will find that your life improves in so many ways once you use it. Food tastes better, the air seems fresher.

    These sum it up.

I only ever use “New Posts” and then I browse for those I’ve contributed to, and then scan the page for others that might appeal. I use “Go to first unread” all the time too. I only browse from my iPad for some reason my laptop never managed to remember my password, even though these are meant to share across all devices. That also stops me being distracted when I’m meant to be working!
