We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973

Did she have Betty Davis eyes? Never heard of her but RIP anyway.

I guess that's why Steve Dinsdale (RMI) posted Mademoiselle Mabry on Facebook earlier.

Have to admit I just did a double-take, thinking "No way she was still alive!" But it's not Bette Davis. Yeah.
She was played on FM stations in Boston in the late 70s. She had a talking style of singing on some songs, not at all like rap. Her lyrics were pretty suggestive. I remember one song about a fire place and Betty commenting that one guy's "log" was longer than another guy's.

Looking forward to my day in court.
On WBCN.
Wasn't that particular one by Millie Jackson?

RIP
Without her, Miles may never have been as funky and freaky. She was one of a kind. May she rest in rhythm.
