I never really clicked with this.
Terrific playing, but it has always reminded me more of sports than of music.
Yeah, well, that was Friday. This is Saturday. Could be totally different.
I was at the original Friday Night In San Francisco show. I'd love to own the Saturday night recording, on CD.
You can!

That was a huge seller
Back in the day, we used to listen to it a lot ... good old memories!
Pura Vida!.
There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind. ∞
Duke Ellington.
I still have this on vinyl; have no urge to "upgrade" to CD, as I never listen to it. To me, it's all technique and no music.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
I have a gold disc version of Friday that came in a jewel case housed in a hardcover book that doesn't really seem to offer any extras:

I picked it up somewhere at a normal price, or possibly from a cutout bin, not sure. I can't think of any other single CD box sets that I own.
Just an LP worth of material from a 2 hr and 20 minute show? The entire show on video is up on YouTube.
About a month ago. Al and John and a third guitarist:

I saw Al and John but not with Paco but instead a replacement named Birelli Lagrene in NYC in 1989. Great show. The opening act was Trilok Gurtu (which at the time I didn't know but a friend I went with told me later - also for a long time I forgot Birelli's name). I don't remember much about the show except it was all acoustic and all three were playing extremely fast. I guess that's their thing.
