I blame Wynton, what was the question?
There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
The current last-placed WC team can't catch them.

In about the wildest bottom of the 9th I’ve ever seen. Losing 8-4, Judge leads off with a blast for #60. A double, a walk and a dink leaves the bases loaded for Stanton who promptly hits a rocket for a walk off grand slam!
To top it off, Judge is now leading in all 3 categories for the triple crown!

Neither Braves nor Mets are going to lose until last weekend....
Pete Alonso becomes first Met to ever have two seasons of 120+ RBIs. Piazza and Wright did it once each (124). Wright holds Mets record with 5 100+ RBIs seasons.

I'm still shocked that they pulled it off. Aside from that last inning, it was bound to be one of the worst losses of the year against the awful Pirates. Along with that, I had to suffer through the local Pirates broadcast with, quite possibly, the worst broadcast team I've ever heard. Watching paint dry would be more exciting.
One thing of note is the look on Judge's face after hitting #60. He was not very happy. He shook his head and said, "Look at the score." He wasn't really happy until they won.
That, my friends, is a captain.

Just that alone is impressive. But when you start examining all the other categories he's leading, you start to realize he's having one of the top-five offensive seasons of all time. This is not hyperbole. Just click through these sortable stats and see for yourself:
https://www.mlb.com/stats/american-league/runs
Runs, walks, slugging, OPS, total bases (by a lot!). He's in spitting distance of leading the AL in hits! There are more obscure stats he's leading in like WPA and WAR. He's leading traditional and Sabermetric categories across the board. Not Bonds, not Griffey, not Trout--no one has a had a season leading nearly every offensive category since Schimdt in the strike-shortened 1981 season. Unreal.
It is some season.
That looks like it could be the series of the year. The Mets more so than the Braves need to avoid the WC. Braves can toss out Fried, Morton, Strider, Wright or even bullpen a Wild Card game ("quad A" pitcher Elder looked pretty sharp today against the worthless Nats). Mets would most likely burn Scherzer and deGrom in any WC series which would (quite obviously) hamper what they can do in the next round.
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
Not to mention stolen bases and stellar defense, including one of the best arms you'll ever see.

^^ Indeed. Ohtani is certainly great and doing things we haven't seen since the early days of the modern era.
It's hard to deny that Judge deserves the MVP. The Angels are 16.5 games out and nearly 20 games under .500. Where would they be without Ohtani? The Yankees are in first place and would be NOWHERE without Judge this year.
But, I do get it. A two-way player is incredibly valuable. But if that's all it takes, then he should be MVP every year, assuming he's more than serviceable at each position. But, then what happens when the next two-way player comes? There are some in the minors. He'll no longer be a unicorn.
Setting my bias aside, I simply cannot see it going to anyone else, considering that Judge leads in pretty much every category, is in the lead of the Triple Crown race and a great ambassador of the sport.

I'm referring to an MVP advantage. It should not be a major factor, IMO. Yes, there's a real benefit of saving the roster spot. But, I think how the team's standings are impacted by a player far outweighs most criteria. There have only been a few exceptions where a player's performance was so great, but for a shitty team, that they got the award. One would be Arod in 2003 for the crappy Rangers.

That's why I said upthread that Ohtani has a very legitimate shot - even now as Judge flirts with a historical triple crown + the stat heads essentially have Ohtani within one win of Judge on seasonal WAR for 2022.
However, courtesy of Buster Olney, this is the MVP stat that resonates with me: in 90 games NYY won, Judge slash is 350/438/832 - in 58 losses, 256/388/482

Plus, he has carried a depleted lineup, being forced to bat 1st, and taking over the CF position for a good part of the season. Now that Bader is back, he can move to RF, whiz-kid Cabrera can move to LF, and Hicks can stay on the bench where he belongs.
I'd like to see a stat for HRs that either tied the game or put the team ahead. Seems like he did that a lot this year.

I did see a stat for that last month on ESPN - Ohtani was ahead on that at the time.
I've tried to find it since but googlefu not working

Thought the O's packed it in for the year then score 8-1 win last night then starter pitches 8 2/3 two hit shutout innings against the AL's best team tonight.

To be clear, I am not Aaron Judge's PR firm. But if I was, I would send out a statement about his cannon of an arm saving the game last night against the BoSox, while pointing out that you can't get that from a DH.
