Looking forward to watching this. There's been a lot of Genesis in my life lately - Gigs with the Gabriel tribute I play with, Genesis concert, and the Musical Box show all in November. It got me thinking about how everyone talks about "the Gabriel era" and "the Collins era". I've come to realize that my personal favorite is "the Hackett era".

Rael: this was very lovingly created! You have precisely captured the beautiful melancholy, depth, breadth, and grandeur of what I consider to be the band's best record. The instrumental versions of the songs that are playing in the background are perfect and create a wholly complimentary backdrop. Also, thanks for providing links to the source material for those versions.

As before, I learned a few new things here, mostly about Steve's input. I knew he'd offered Please Don't Touch to the band and that they had rehearsed it, Phil's comment of "I can't get behind that" essentially nixing its potential inclusion. However, I wasn't aware he also offered Hoping Love Will Last and that the song Narnia was around during his Genesis days. Finally, I must be part of a very small minority of people who have never had an issue with Your Own Special Way. The instrumental version of the middle section that was in this video is quite beautiful.

I'll be eagerly awaiting your next installment as you document the Genesis canon!

That was a beautifully made video, I didn't know about the Moorcock inspiration for One For The Vine, I have that book somewhere, will reread it. Many thanks for a great watch.

Really enjoyed it, and as others have commented, really captures the album's special atmosphere. Also, fascinating snippets of musical variants from creative use of the multitracks. And interesting non-Genesis chamber arrangements of some of the music.

Well I have the album (W&W was the first LP by Genesis that I bought back in 1977) and I Adore your documentary. I learned a lot about the making of the LP (as well as the lyrics) from watching the doc. I also enjoyed the alternate mixes & background music. Looking forward to your next piece about Genesis (and I hope you consider doing similar documentaries on other Great Prog Albums in the future).

I do the voice on my phone. That's why it sounds pretty shit. I should buy a decent microphone, I know, but I'm a tight-arse.
I edit the thing using a free editing software called Shotcut.

I'm really pleased with this one. There are a few things I'd still change, but I knew it would hit the exact spot. I'm so glad that it has made so many people happy. One can only imagine how these actual bands that we adore so much feel when they sit back and listen to the original albums for the first time, let alone having a stadium of people singing along to your words.

I'll settle for being a legend in my own bedroom for now!
