AAJ Review: Tomasz Stańko New York Quartet: Wislawa

My review of Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stańko's Wislawa, with his new New York Quartet, today at All About Jazz.

With rising star David Virelles, who also played piano on saxophonist Chris Potter's recent ECM leader debut, The Sirens, bassist Thmas Morgan and drummer Gerald Cleaver, this double disc set reflects both Stańko's ever-present lyricism and his increasing time spent living in New York. A terrific record by any standard.

    Review here.

IMO this ranks with Matka Joanna and Leosia, the best things of his I've heard. A beautiful but still bracing album.

Does it matter that this waste of time is what makes a life for you?

I grabbed the 24/88.2 files. Sublime album. Stanko is always money in the bank.
