shit...saw him at least 3 or 4 times backing up Tull in the good ole days. Great singer, killer guitarist. Always dug the album Zaragon!

Listen to La Sagrada Familia. John Miles was way more the "Music" (was my first Love), which was his only big hit here in Europe.

Sorry to read this. I figured he had to be too young yet. I bought his Zaragon album when it came out, as it got radio airplay in Cleveland. I like it enough to have also purchased a CD reissue.
I only knew him through his work with APP. He did some amazing songs with them.
Me too, but I just now checked out Zaragon on YouTube, and WOW! That's some great stuff!

Sad to read that he has left us. When I was a young teenager John's first 2 albums were amongst the first I ever bought, still have them today and they have always remained special to me. Rest in peace John.

DAMN!!! This is VERY sad!!!
He worked with several biggies including Jimmy Page and Tina Turner. Not to mention APP and many others. And an amazing solo artist. I saw him live twice...on a triple bill with MMEB and Gary Wright and opening for Elton John at Foxboro Stadium in MA.
"Rebel" a CLASSIC LP. I still play it LOUD!! This brings new meaning to "When You Lose Someone So Young"

Very sad news! I enjoyed his releases in the late 70s and loved that he was a regular at the Proms with fun arrangements of "Music"
I made my own proggier version of Music last year, scheduled for release next year and which actually got a thumbs-up from the man himself! To sad it didn't make it before his passing and I'm not certain about the approval for release as for now.

This is a sad loss. I first saw him when he opened for Robin Trower at the Glasgow Apollo and frankly blew Robin’s band off the stage mainly due to Trower’s suffering from a terrible sound system. John then returned to the Apollo a few months later as headliner. I loved that he opened his show with Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo the Rick Derringer rocker which was a staple of both Johnny and Edgar Winter performances. I followed his early career but kind of fell away after Zaragon and I never really picked up anything later.
Those two concerts by him will always be remembered as musical highlights in my life. RIP John.

Actually saw him live on one of those Night of the Proms shows around that time. He also played "La Sagrada Familia". That was really awesome.
I never put together that the voice I loved on all those APP songs was also the belter I heard on the first two songs on Jimmy Page's Outrider LP. The man had range. RIP to a strong set of pipes.

I knew Miles from his work with the Alan Parsons Project, but his solo work I managed to hear over the years didn't really connect with me. Until I heard "Music" about six years ago. At the time I could really subscribe to the sentiment "in this world of troubles / my music pulls me through". The whole Rebel album proved to be and remains a very solid work.

That's the only other one of his albums I have. More epic, yes, but not as engaging as Rebel, IMHO of course. Still a fine work.
I never got that one, likely because of a shortage of pocket money and then I discovered Yes, Rush & Genesis and moved on. Will check it out now.
