    Grammy nominations

Dream Theater ("The Alien") and Mastodon ("Pushing the Tides") are nominated for Best Metal Performance. Stewart Copeland and Ricky Kej's Divine Tides is nominated for Best New Age Album. Lots of nominations for jazzy people prog fans might like (Steve Gadd, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Sun Ra Arkestra).

The limited edition box set version of Steven Wilson's The Future Bites was nominated for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. "David Byrne's American Utopia" is nominated for Best Music Film.

Trevor Horn's son Aaron is mentioned for co-producing one track on Doja Cat's Planet Her, nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

I could see DT winning a grammy this time, but I would also be very happy with Mastodon.

    A few others I like:

Brandi Carlile is quality stuff. I own a few of her albums. AC / DC, Black Pumas, Foo Fighters for rock. Mammoth (Wolfgang Van Halen) gets a nomination. Local Southwest Michigan kid Billy Strings gets a nomination for roots and bluegrass music. For blues Joe Bonamassa and Kingfish Ingram are both quality stuff.

The late Louis Andriessen was nominated too.

Bonamassa had an album nominated. The live album from the tour in support of that album ends with a medley of Jethro Tull's "A New Day Yesterday" and Yes's "Starship Trooper: Würm".

I saw Joe at a local bar before anyone outside of a few regions knew him.

This baffles me, because that's one of the few box sets I regret buying, based on the fact that there's very little content, and the design is boring. I plan to sell it. It shouldn't be rewarded - the award should have gone to the reissue of A or something. I like the main It Bite album, but the box is a boring fail IMO.

Joe actually used to do that years ago, but has recently brought both back into his set. He does a killer job with both.
