Porcupine Tree announced their touring band today on Twitter.

    https://twitter.com/PorcupineTree/st...26024596082690

"We would like to welcome Randy McStine and @Nathan_Navarro_ to the Porcupine Tree touring line up.

Both are incredibly talented musicians and we have already had the pleasure of rehearsing the new material with them."

I'm so glad that a PT is touring. Going to see them in Montreal. Not familiar with the new musicians but I'm sure they'll be great!

McStine is a beast! Not familiar with the new bassist...

This guy is no slouch on the bass. Certainly a more aggressive and upfront sound than Colin Edwin.

Agreed. Super talented guy. I saw him do a solo set before the Pineapple Thief a couple years ago.

Apparently the bass player has played with Devin Townsend. Apparently also a beast!

    Oh yeah.

I'm happy for Randy, his albums with Marco Minneman are great. I saw him open for Progject, but it was only a 25 minute set, which really seemed too short.

I'm a bit sad for Jon Wesley though, so I feel like I need to mention that too because I'm sort of friends with both. But fans of both too, and they're both talented!

McStien / Minneman kicked total ass on the cruise. One of my favorite performances. Randy also played with Dave Kerzner's all-star band and was great there too.

We saw Randy open for Flying Colors at Sony Hall in NYC in '19. Great player!

I read that Gavin came up with the 11/8 groove and sent it over to the other two with a "OK, figure out something to go with this!" message.

    I'd say they did!
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

Here's a new interview with Steven Wilson in Classic Rock magazine.

The article features an unexpected comment from Steven about recent musical output from Yes.

Steven Wilson bridled at being compared with Yes, declaring their recent output “absolute fucking excrement”.

This is an old quote from 1998 and probably why Yes treated them badly when PT supported Yes in the early 2000's.

You're right! A search on Google reveals that the quote is from a 1999 interview.

But how much do you want to bet that his viewpoint hasn't changed with more recent albums?

Perhaps more interesting than SW's views on Yes are those first reviews of the new album.

Not very enthusiastic to say the least...

If you do a YouTube search for Cruise To The Edge 2022 there is a Marillion section (not the full concert) that looks/sounds great.

And then Steven Wilson fanboys take major offence when his output gets even slight critique!

Isn't this true about any bands "fanboys?"

Maybe. Most artists however does not use such language about other bands as Wilson. It was ridiculous how provocative Wilson was in most interviews in the 90's.
