    Robby Steinhardt solo album

Robby's first, and sadly, only solo album has been released. Looks like it was produced and released by Michael Franklin, the same one who was behind the Jon Anderson 1000 Hands album. Similar to that project, this one also features a ton of guest artists:

    MUSICAL CAST:

Robby Steinhardt, Patrick Moraz, Tim Franklin, Chuck Leavell, Tommy Calton, Jim Gentry, Billy Cobham, Michael Franklin, Liberty Devitto, Ian Anderson, Matt Brown, Pat Travers, Pat Gulotta, Rayford Griffin, Christopher Keogh, Paul Fleury, Olga Kopakova, Les Dudek, Steve Morse, Jocelyn Hsu, Billy Ashbaugh, Sonny Ferguson, Bobby Kimball, Benoit Lajeunesse, Charlie DeChant, Lisa Fischer, Elodir Germain, Paul Fleury, Pat Frost, Michelle Mailhot, Steve Walters, Billy Boyd, Brian Snapp, Davonnda Simmons, Jim Stringer, The Basel Hayden Singers

And also similar to the 1000 Hands initial release, this one also seems to be available in a limited fashion, being sold from this website: https://solarmusic.com/shop/music

A promo video was created, calling it "the prog rock event of the year":

Could be interesting, will check it out. I wonder if he did much of the writing?

Oh man...that has to be the worst promotional video I've seen in a very long time.
The FM radio type announcer, the script is so hokey..such a shame, Robby deserves better than that.
I made it halfway through and bailed, the background music was so low, all I could hear was that whacky announcer.

RIP Robbie, thank you for sharing your last pages of music.

So sad Robby is no longer here to see the release of this project or able to tour behind it. I have the Steinhardt / Moon album and thought it was just ok, but this looks like a very cool project.

I decided to order the CD version. I have been a geek for all things Kansas related for years, so gotta give this one a try.

hey Steve, let us know how you like it.
I went on the website and they have some short samples, but the audio was so badly compressed i couldn't get a feel for the quality of the songs.

Just downloaded it. MP3s are 320 kbps, so sound quality should be fine (to my ears) on the compression front. Artwork is also included.

Just listened to it. I think that most Kansas fans will enjoy the album. A number of fun musical surprises along the way.

All songs except for "Dust in the Wind" are credited to Michael Franklin / Robby Steinhardt / Tim Franklin, but Robby says in the liner notes, "... written mostly by Michael and Tim Franklin, without them, their encouragement and hard work, this never would have happened."

I love Robby's playing and singing, so thanks for the review.
My comment about compression was about the player they have on his site, and the short samples...horrible.
320kps is more than enough, short of having Flac or Wav format as an option.

Nice! I am looking forward to grabbing this one. Nice year for Kansas fans musically with this release, the new Kerry Livgren and a single & forthcoming album from John Elefante.

I must admit to being miffed at that promo video. "The Prog-Rock event of the year!"...Excuse me. They do know that a new Yes album was released this year, don't they?

Yeah, The Quest sure is making waves...

I’m interested to hear this, and proud that he (or whoever made the decision) embraces the fact that it’s a “prog” album in the title. 🙂

A very nice article on Robby and this album. It details quite a bit about how this album came to be, his work with Steinhardt-Moon/Stormbringer, his plans to tour this album, and his final days.

Very nice, indeed. And sad. And bittersweet. But what a blessing that he was able to complete this project, considering his battles. Very anxious to hear it.

Interestingly, it seems the only Kansas member on it(other than Robby obviously) is Steve Morse (who was only in the band rather briefly).

Reading through the thread again, I realized I was referring to Robby as Robbie, which is kind of crazy because I know it's not Robbie.
Please, next time I do something like that, let me know. It's a lot like walking around with your zipper down and no one letting you know. lol

It's embarrassing. I'd love to know the name of the genius who put that together so I can mock him personally.

Seems like it should begin with "SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!" like the monster truck rally ads.
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"

    Just noticed this:

Not in Kansas Anymore is a continuous play work with crossfading between tracks.
