New Accordo dei Contrari UR- available for pre-order

Ever since I took a chance and bought their first album without ever hearing a note, I've eagerly awaited every subsequent release from this brilliant ensemble. It tends to have a very long shelf-life in my music collection; I can re-visit AdC again and again over the years and still manage to find myself freshly inspired.

The track that is streaming is really hitting it for me. Will absolutely get the CD when available from somewhere this side of the pond.

    No.

Now I get to ask you a question.
How many copies do you think we could sell worldwide of this title on vinyl in 2 years?

    And another question.

Provide answers and I will as well.

If there was reasonable postage they would sell. They would sell triple the number they sell now. Internet killed music, but post offices gave the final blow.

    No. NOT true.

We have distribution throughout Europe and Japan. All our titles are available throughout western Europe and Japan with local shipping costs.

I am judging from myself then. And I am talking about numbers below the 500 mark. They would sell overseas methinks.

No. They would not. They would sell a reasonable if small number in Italy. But not ‘overseas’. If they did so well overseas, why sign with a US label? I’m not that charming….

If they sold ‘3 x as many’ without postage issues, it would be close to 500, which would make it worthwhile and worth doing and it would have been done and we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Without the band buying copies, worldwide, my expectations on vinyl would be in the 150-175 range. It’s absolutely NOT worth doing for that number.

Ah, don't sell yourself short, Steve.

It is a bummer that there won't be a vinyl release of this. I understand why, and I wish the situation was better for the independent bands/labels still putting out quality music.

I'll buy the music in whatever format it's available in though.

Well, I wish the situation was better too, but it isn’t and you don’t last 35 years doing this by pretending that things that you wish were true actually are true.

I think we're saying the same thing, but from a different perspective. The numbers you're giving are also what I had in mind.

I used to buy vinyl, and the postage can be from 20% of the actual product value where I live or even half of it. This killed it for me, since I am not currently living my most prosperous times. I fully comprehend that it's just not worth it from a business point of view.

And come on man, you are that charming! Cunei is a legend, and I can see why the band would sign there, apart from financial issues.

I have no idea. I only know I have AdC and Violato Intatto on vinyl, so I was just wondering about the new one.
